That might have been better. But when women laugh at you because if your horn, it's real bad.

Sorry, but I don't get any sound from your post. Or, is that the joke?

Other threads have mentioned the Wolo Bad Boy electric air horn.

    Great write-up!
Swapping the horns: 20 minutes and a few scratches

Today, I almost got side-swiped by a delivery van who's trying to make a lane change. I moved a bit to the left while blowing my horn and my Prius screamed meeeeppp!!! like a mouse crying for help. The driver raised his hand gesturing for an apology and I let the incident pass without throwing a fit. Instead, I thought, it's time to change the factory horn. Hella, FIAMM, WOLO, or something else?

Can't speak for the others, but the FIAMMs are are nice upgrade. I'm happy with them.

Excellent DIY instructions. Thx! I just did the horn swap with FIAMM El Grande's in 15 minutes. Like others, my trim piece retaining clips did not work as well after they were removed and reused. I will replace them. Also, I suggest connecting the horn wire before placing the new horn on the bracket. BTW, taking the emblem off helped a lot.
Great upgrade with instant gratification when you test the new horn. It now honks instead of beeps/meeps.

I see you did a swap out with the EL Grande horns, did you go with the twin set. I did the same thing on my priii 2 and my EL Grandes tones sound to close together, does yours sound like that, think theres a way to adjust them, somebody jump in with advice. They're LOUD alright. Love them!!

Wow, I'm done! Thanks for the insight. Honk, honk...

It took some time for me since I could not get the OEM horn off of their original brace! So, I had to remove the emblem (don't forget about the clips after you remove the two screws) so that I could reach in and remove the bolt holding the brace to the frame in order to remove the OEM horns. I had no choice but to use the brace that came with the Faimm's, and by having to do it this way, mounting the new brace to the frame first, then mounting the new horn onto the brace was the way to go.

Even after I got the OEM horn w/brace off the Prius, I still can't remove the brace from the OEM horns from my 2013 IV. It's just extremely too tight.

They must've let the guy that normally installs the oil filter holder install those OEM horns.

DirtyDan, I did the twin set swap. The Prius now sounds very much like my 07 Camry. I have not noticed the two horn tones sounding too similar. Perhaps confirming that they are similarly aligned (i.e. both pointing at the same angle) and that the connections are good might help. I had some connection issues when I did a similar upgrade on a 2005 Scion. Congrats on the upgrade!

Well, I did try to make the existing horn louder (Horn Upgrade --- DIY | Page 6 | PriusChat) but it did not give the expected results. After another narrow escape I went ahead and added a twin air horn (12 Vault Twin Air Horn) to the existing horn. Now I am sure that at least the other motorists would hear the horn whenever the situation warrants use of the horn again. People tend to start looking around when they hear a horn close by that sounds like a young 18-wheeler.

There must be a big difference between the V and the II because my brackets are square-ish and do not bend. They also have captive nuts for a 12mm bolt. I ordered the Fiamm horns and one of them was lacking a nut lol. Geez, it couldn't have gone worse. I still have stock horns. :(
