My power button green light is out

    Just noticed that my 2005 Prius power button is no longer lighting up with a green light when I am in ready mode. The orange light works before it goes into ready mode, so I am assuming that there must be a green bulb that has burned out. The car is running just fine and I could live with a burnt out bulb, but, I would rather have it show green so I know the car is on.

    So, if I take it into the dealer to get this little bulb replaced is it a quick fix to pop off the power button to replace the bulb with a new one? Or is this one of those things that you have to take apart the complete dashboard to replace one little light?

    No tools of my own, so I would probably go to the parts department to buy the bulb and ask him if he could put it in for me if it is a simple matter of poping off the button to get at the light.

    The POWER button should be dark when the car is IG-OFF or READY; green when the car is ACC-ON, and orange when the car is IG-ON (do not leave the car in that mode for an extended period as the 12V battery will quickly drain.) I believe that a dual color LED provides the lighting for that switch so if the lighting really had an issue you would probably have to replace the POWER switch.

    You would think after nearly eight years of driving this car I would know that the light is off when in ready mode.

    Somehow over the past two days even though the orange light was off when the car was powered down, it would come on breifly (less than a second) before going into ready mode. I am used to seeing a little green light. I must of accidently switched form ACC-ON to IG-ON the other day before powering down. Switched it back and now I have my little green light back before it goes into ready mode.
