Hey guys, I just bought a 2005 prius. The audio system is the base version ( Not even the JBL version) with no navigation. At the bottom of my dash board there is a custom fit aux input with an on off switch next to it.

I cannot figure out how to use it with my Android phone. On the screen UI there is nothing to suggest an alternative source. I checked to see if I could select a different cd input but only the main cd option shows up.

The car also has what looks like a volume control fitted next to the dim / brightness controls on the dashboard. It doesn't seem to do anything and I suspect it is somehow connected to the AUX port.

Thanks for any ideas you may have.

Have you tried turning your radio to AM/Sat? That may help.

It sounds like someone has gone in and added a jack to an existing audio line. It might be with the CD or with the radio. Do you have a cassette player? It might work on that input, perhaps with a blank tape. Maybe on the radio with a blank (FM) station tuned in (it may mute static automatically)? Hard to say without seeing it but it does not sound like it is original to the car.
