Considering buying this as my first Prius...BUT ..It was on the recall list for Cou and C0t 1.2. It looks like these have been sorted and it has a new Battery. A part of me thinks that it is a VERY good buy with a new battery etc, but maybe it means I should run in the other direction..

    Other details

    AutoCheck Says

It had a Lien placed on the car and gives it a 93, as it had one owner and no accidents and had lovely green check marks for everything but the Lien notice.

    CarFax says:

    Maintenance inspection completed
    Battery replaced
    Drive belts replaced
Front brake pads replaced and rotors resurfaced
    Battery/charging system checked

    Advice greatly appreciated,

    Thanks

I had a 2007 Prius that had 97k miles on it when I traded it in four months ago.

The brakes did not need any work on it, and the batteries are still the original.
I think the drive belts were still the original.

. . . which makes me wonder how hard people might have been driving this car.

one friend of mine has an 2005 Prius and he says he just passed 250k and still on the original battery.

    ...just my opinion

thanks, I hadn't thought about that. The car is certified, would any problems appear in the 12 months warrenty?
I s'pose if I dropped my gym subscription and cut out a couple of other luxuries, I could buy a 2013 model II as they are offering 0% for 60 months and $1000 trade in...but I have never bought a NEW car, seems such a rip off, though at least I would know I had not bought someone else's wreck

    Yes.

Don't worry about the recalls, they would be common to all Prius in that age range.

Don't be too impressed by the new battery, this is referring to the 12V auxiliary battery and has a value of ~$200. Good luck with your purchase decision.

If you like it, and it fits your budget then buy it. Certified Toyota means it passes all the requirements thereof to meet the program including physical and mechanical condition. They come with a one year warranty that is pretty thorough, and the drivetrain warranty is extended to 100,000 rather than ending at 60,000.

Remember this fact. A new car is a used car once you drive it off the lot. Buying new does not mean you will be absolutely trouble free. Also a new car depreciates drastically the minute it is driven off the lot.
