    Hey Guys/Gals,
This is my first post as i recently purchased a 2008 package two. I've read through hundreds of post the past few days and want to thank you all for valuable information. Keep up the good work!

My question is regarding Coastal Techs Ultimate Lock Pick 3 for prius without he navigation system. I am interested in the ability to play videos. Reading through the post, I have heard mix reviews in regards to the customer service but want to know more about the quality of the video and ease of the installation. Can the community comment their own experience?

Also, are their any substitute brands/products that allow you to make your mfd screen to watch video?

    Thank you all in advance!

Last week I had the same doubt as you.
Today I just installed the lockpick 3.
It took me less than 3 hour. (included 2 trip to home depot for tools...)
There is other third party for the video input. Coastal tech won the point because I believe its most integrated with prius operation system. And lots of prius here using it.
I have test iphone video output on tonight. sweet!
Can't tell the image quality since it's limited by iphone's mp4 compression.
toyota should seriously consider adding this to factory option.

Ok that's good to know. I was in an infinity m35 the other day and it came with the video option. The quality was pretty good, which i think the prius screen would produce the same.

I think i will just order the lock pick as it's only $230. Thanks for the reply!

That looks like a pretty nice mod. Once installed what kind of inputs are available (I'm assuming just RCA inputs) and will the video be displayed while the Prius is in motion?

I installed the Lock pick 3 and it works great. I have nav and the video is great quality. Every thing works while you are moving. They have no customer support at all, but it works. After the install you can dial phone numbers and trans the phone while moving. Greg

I forgot to answere the question about the inputs, they are RCA. I also forgot to tell you that my I Pod 5th gen does work but goes to black and white after about 5 minutes. My I touch 16 Gig works great, go figure.

I just received the ultimate lock pick 3 for my 2008 package 2. After installing the lock pick, i was unable to get the functions to work. The instructions says hit the Disc/Aux button or Mode until a DVD screen appears. I've tried numerous times without any luck. I am starting to think the Ultimate Lock Pick does not work for Non based models and those without a navigation. I also notice one of the blue harness does not go anywhere (the other end is the video/yellow RCA.

Anyone have luck installing the ultimate lock pick 3 for a Package 2?

You won't get any video if the blue cable isn't plugged into the back of the screen. That is the cable that taps into the video input on the MFD. Where are you plugging your video source into?

    Gregvsandt,
Have you tried unplugging your yellow video input while watching video that is in black & white? My Zen does the same thing, but if I unplug the yellow cable for 1 sec, then plug it back in, it will return to color. Not sure how long it will last, because I just installed it today and haven't played with it much. 2008 with Nav and Ultimate Lockpick 3 +

(facing the back of the MFD) I have pulled out the far right plug and hooked it to the Lockpick plug (with the computer chip that has been taped). The lockpick then has a female or male plug which hooks on to the MFD (which was initially pulled out).

The other wire with the yellow video input, I've hooked that into an empty slot to the left, which it fits perfectly. I'm not sure if other prius have an empty slot because i have a package 2 (no nav, bluetooth or satellite radio). That leaves me with a blue plug that is not plugged into anything.

Ok, my yellow video input harness went inline with an existing lead that was already in the MFD. The original MFD input has just a few wires (2 or 3). I have no satellite radio so I only had 1 vacant cavity on the back of the MFD. When you cycle through MODE, do you get CD, then DVD appearing in a narrow band across the top of the screen. If you can see "DVD" mode on screen, you then have to hit "audio" key and then the on-screen "picture" button. The "track up" button on the steering wheel will also get you there. If your unit won't display "DVD" when cycling through the modes, then there is a problem. I would recheck the pins on all the connectors. I found a couple of mine were a little difficult to seat all the way. The smallest connector on the lockpick goes in a lot deeper that the others.

When i cycle through MODE, I get CD but not DVD. I will try the 3rd lockpick from Coastal. If that doesn't work, I'll check the pins.

My MFD had two existing cavity prior to any installation out of a total of 4 cavity. Did yours have three?

Thank you for posting. I have an '08 touring with the top package and have been wanting to get video while in motion... yours is the first post that gives me any real confidence in coastaletech's LP3+ for this purpose.

How do you get your iPod hooked up if the inputs are RCA?

Does the iPod get power from whatever you're hooking it into to get its video on the dash screen?

    Thanks for sharing your experience!

You have to get RCA to 3.5mm plugs. If you have a video ipod, then you can get the wire from apple.com. If you want it for cheap, go to HDMI Cable, Home Theater Accessories, HDMI Products, Cables, Adapters, Video/Audio Switch, Networking, USB, Firewire, Printer Toner, and more!. As far as power, you can either charge it at home or you can buy a car charger.

I only had 1 empty cavity for the satellite radio input. The lockpick filled that one and gave me a empty female connector to plug a satellite radio into. I will be working on installing a DVD player this evening. At least Coastal is attempting to fix your problem. Hope you get one that works.

    Hey Guys,
I got my 3rd Ultimate Lock pick 3 from Coastal Tech and it finally works on my Prius 2008 Package 2! The first two must have had a problem with the computer chip. I've used the Video Ipod without any problems.

Now the only thing i have to worry about is getting my refund for returning the first two.

Does this show everything on your iphone/ipad? Or just video playing?

I would love to know if this could be used to display the iphone navigation onto the Prius screen...
