I was tapped from behind in my 2007 and the airbag light came on. The bags did not deploy.

I scanned for crash codes, and there are none.

What do I do to get the light off or to know if the system is working properly?

    Thanks

What did you use to scan for codes? Generic code readers will not read the Prius specific codes only basic engine codes.
It is possible that one of the impact sensors is damaged causing the light. I believe there are two behind the rear bumper, but will check and re post on the situation.

Yes, I used a generic code reader.

    What should I try next?
    Thanks

Since its been in an accident I recommend you either find an Independent that has Techstream Software to interrogate the car or go to the dealer and have them do a complete scan of the car with print out and reset the light.
They hook a laptop with Toyota TS software onboard to the OBDII port.

Go on Youtube and look up Toyota Techstream.

My dealer charges $125 for this. Well worth it for you especially since there may be damage to the car and you need to know asap to go after the other car's insurance. You're in Florida we are no fault so it would be your insurance.

Since your paying that make sure they print out the Hybrid Battery health info too. Got nothing to do with the accident but everything to do with the general health of the car. Its alot of data.

Insurance will re-imburse you for this fee I presume if it becomes part of a repair. Get receipt and print out.
