While cleaning my 2012 with OEM all weather floor mats, I noticed something "interesting"- two holes where my heel usually rests. This is with normal, soft men's shoes, nothing sharp or pointy. Just goes to show how thin these are mats. This is after 20k miles.
Thinking of getting weathertech mats (not the liners) as I've had good luck with them in the past. I realize they are a bit on the heavy side, but 10-15lbs is probably not enough to affect my mileage :)

I have the same mats and they really look cheap compared to weatherTech. Even they are a bit on the pricey side I'm going to splurge for them when the time comes.

Just grabbed a set of Weathertechs on ebay from a Toyota dealer. Much faster shipping than direct apparenty

I just bought a set of the rug mats for the same reason after four years. The drivers side mat had a hole worn through it due to my heel.
I wish Toyota offered just the drivers side mat like Volvo does instead of making you buy the complete set. I got my OEM mats off Amazon for $49 less including shipping and tax than the dealer wanted, which was a whopping $144 with sales tax.

Mine definitely show signs of wear and tear after a year, but no holes yet! Definitely inferior and disappointing for an OEM product compared to other all-weather floor mats I've had experience with. I only use these mats during rainy season in SoCal, i.e. Nov. to April (they don't even do a swell job at retaining water!), then swap back my regular PLUS carpet mats for the dry season.

Wow, that sucks! Weather Tech digital fit liners were the first mod to our 2013 Prius, with not even 1k miles on the car yet. Have them in our Land Cruiser for 3-4 yrs and hands-down the best floor mats I've ever owned in any vehicle. The Prius version fit even better than I've seen in other vehicles too. Ordered direct from WT and they arrived like 4 days later. We even tried to get Toyota to take the $300 off the car because we didn't want stock floor mats...they wouldn't...:( Good luck with your new floor mats, but if you get WT you may want the digital fit liners instead.

I might ditch mine in the future, but with the sporadic rain fall we have here, I'll probably hang on to them for a little longer. Now if I was living in Eureka, these mats are definitely unacceptable. If you think the driver side is bad, the passenger mat is even worse. They don't even grip the flooring at all! I almost always have to re-position the mat after a passenger gets out of the car.

I am pretty happy with the regular WeatherTechs so far. Color (grey) fits the interior better and they collect all the junk that regular mats would just let slide all over. I'll post a picture one of these days we have daylight out side ;)

This is what our genooine Toyota carpeted mats looked like, about 6 months in, and we're low mileage:

But think of the mileage! They must be so light as to add 10% to our MPG, so who cares if they last more than a week :)
