Hello! After having driven a pickup the last 5 years that averaged 13.2 MPG, I finally decided paying $450-550 per month in gasoline alone was killing me. I was filling up sometimes twice a week. So last weekend I went to the Toyota dealer actually looking at Tundras (I'm still a pickup guy and always will be, lol) and started checking out the Prius C's. Got talked in to test driving one then got talked into buying it! It's a 2013 certified pre-owned with 9500 miles and it's habanero orange. I'm really enjoying it and I don't think there's a better car for the money considering what you get. I do admit for the next 3 days after trading in I had a knot in my stomach realizing I no longer had a pickup but I think I've gotten over it. I'll post some pics later!

Yes sir, at that rate, you'll have the money for your car payment. My wife experienced a similar experience, going from a RAV4 AWD AT 4cylinder. It got 22mpg uphill or downhill, no matter how you drove it. She got a TCH XLE, which gets 36 to 38 mpg around town, and 40 to 44 mpg on the highway. The money she saves in gasoline helps make her new car payment. It quieter, smoother and feels very luxurious compared to the RAV4. Welcome to the hybrid club, you made a wise choice indeed.

Hehe. That's the same reason I ditched my thirsty 2006 Subaru Outback XT and replaced it with this Prius. Not only did it get 17 city/21 hwy, but also required premium unleaded only!

Thanks! I'm enjoying it more than I thought. Although I did have to put up with the first three days of hearing it from my boss and co-workers about how I drive a Prius now, and an orange one at that. Nothing like a hard time, lol.
    I went from this, 2007 F-150 FX4 (loved it)

enjoy,, old fart here, had a pickup for 40 years,, will never go back,, remember we are driving the uglyist car on the road,, but the best part is we dont have to look at it! If you are a tall guy look at the seat-extenders for getting the seat back farther,, i am 6'4" and when i put my seat all the way back, my feet dont touch the pedals! is GREAT!...

Also went from an F-150 to a Prius myself. Had mine for about two weeks and change now. Loving it.

    Enjoy your car

Before my prius I used to drive an Isuzu rodeo. It only got 11mpg around town. Now I get 50.

JP, I have a '99 F250SD 4wd that gets 10mpg city. I also have my 20k mile C-4 that I get about 50mpg most tanks. I've save more than $5,000 dollars for gas I didn't buy by switching from the truck. See how your work buddies take that!

My C is also Habanero-colored. It sure is easy to find in a parking lot.

Thanks guys! Well I've finally settled in I think. I still reminisce about my pickup though, like when I drove by the lake yesterday and saw the rough muddy trail I used to tear up. But I know when I pay this car off in 6 years I'll be heading back to the Toyota dealership to get my new Tundra! Haha. But I am enjoying the car way more than I thought I would. It's really all I need. Gas savings help too!

I was only talking about this type of thing last night with a friend. I had a VW Bora (Jetta Mk4) V6 4 Motion which had a nice silky smooth 2.8 v6 and 4wd. It was a great car and quite rare, albeit very thirsty.

I'm enjoying the savings too with the Prius, but I can also see me getting a fast car in few years time, as I'm really into my cars and like to be able to put my foot down occasionally

I traded in my 2012 5.7L Tundra when I got my Prius. I loved the thing but it was thirsty. I was getting about 18 MPG overall which is a joke compared to what I get now. The Tundra has very strong engine braking which made me cringe every time I hit the brakes going down hill. The engine rpm would shoot up to 2500 or more which is like going 85 on the highway. It's very difficult to drive efficiently because it's just bristling with power. I used it for towing my boat but I plan to rent a U-Haul pickup for that now. I only need to put it into the water in the spring and take it out in the fall anyway.

Funny thing is my insurance went UP $2/yr when I got the Prius even though the truck cost $10k more. I guess the Prius is a little more fragile. ;)
