    Hi Friends,
Today my wife got the triangle again( it happened a few months ago due to bad inverter pump, that is now OK), I ran a DTC reading with my cheap OBD2 bluetooth tool, and it showed P0000, I read on the forum that it means nothing.

It happened while attempting a cold engine start, she drove the car 4 hours before this happened and all was fine.

After turning the car on 3-2 times, the triangle was gone from the touch screen, and only the check engine light was on, after turning the engine off again, and on for the 4th time, all error lights were off, and the car drove fine.

I am in the middle of writing diagnostic software for the gen 1 prius, so I can monitor the 19 blocks behavior on all the SOC range, it can constantly write the results to csv file, and I can get the attached graph, it's not ready yet, but I would like to show you the voltages from all the blocks and MG1 MG2 temperatures, right after the "check engine" and triangle appeared today, so you can tell me if you think that it's something wrong with the hybrid system? would you drive the car normally after such thing happened? now there are no DTC to read so I don't know if the dealer can read anything.

Also, I can now request a PID from each ECU by writing the correct "header", what is preventing me from seeing all the error codes with my software, and by "all" I mean all the error codes that you can see with the mini CVI. or another prius aware scanner?

More news on my software tool soon, it's taking me so long because it's hard for me to sit on the computer due to my back.

    Thanks!

Good luck but there is more to the car than just the traction battery.

    That is true Bob,
I would like to ask you as someone that has prius aware scanner: is it possible to get all the error codes from each separate ECU using a "normal" OBD2 bluetooth scanner, in case I can address each ecu with it's own header?

I am wondering if the above is possible, and if there is a list of parameters that the mini CVI can read for the prius gen 1.?

    Thanks

I would recommend looking for the Scangauge, XGAUGE definitions. It is the most complete set I know thanks to Vincent's efforts.

I would drive it normally. The Gen I (at least mine) likes to give intermittent errors for whatever reason. Consistency is the key (ie the same code comes back with regularity).

PS: These are just my opinions and... I'm not an expert.

I'd suggest you take a close look at the state of your 12v battery. I had similar issues - the error screen without the expected DTCs. That led me to take a close look at the 12v battery performance, specifically the "at rest" prestart voltage, which was low (<11v). Replaced the battery and all is good now - in fact there was some roughness at cold startup that seems to have disappeared as well, and my remote opener now works from about 3x the distance.

There is lots of discussion in this forum on 12v battery replacement. My local experience is that the dealer wanted $400 for the replacement for the Panasonic battery in my car (which was 4 years old). I found an AGM battery at Canadian Tire which was almost identical in size and specs and had the same post size and arrangement for $155. I had to flatten one of the lips in the battery tray, but other than that had no issues with the swap. I should note that Canadian Tire wouldn't provide any warranty because they don't have any listing in their computer for our car, and so it wasn't an approved use for the battery :)
