Good luck Mike, sounds like something for the dealers to look at. Can you let us know how you get on please?

No bad news, I figured I broke it with a bone head move of using a suction cup GPS on the glass, its just odd that it partially/sometimes works.

Hi Mike that was a dumb move. I am no expert but I guess the screen material you touch must be pretty thin - ok to push but not to be pulled and stretched with a suction cup! Hope its not too expensive to repair........

Don't even think about buying a MFD new from Toyota. A large 4 digit price for just the part, not including the labor.

Yeah I pulled the old MFD out to find the part number, and it's only marginally cheaper for a screen than to buy a used MFD and simply swap the whole thing, no soldering skills necessary :D.

Well finally got the part, replaced the screen, diagnostic mode showed 11.9V with no load, 11.6V with accessories on, and 14V with ignition on. And this is after getting back from work a couple hours ago, I'd imagine it might run lower after an overnight.

Sounds like a new battery is in the short term future.

So here's a question, other than the battery not being able to start the car, are there any other issues with "riding it until the wheels fall off". Alternator constantly trying to charge it giving cruddy mileage perhaps?
