    Hello everyone,

I'm a new Prius owner and have a few questions regarding the use of a USB flash drive to play mp3's on my Prius's audio system.

    1. Does the flash drive have to be any particular type of flash drive? I ask this because with my old Hyundai Elantra, I used several 64gb flash drives successfully, but so far they seem to get "stuck" when using them in the Prius.

    2. Is there a GB limit to the size of the flash drive that is compatible with the Prius audio system?

    Thanks so much!

I kept having trouble with my older IPOD in my 2012 prius and ending up buying a 64 gb USB 3.0 thumb drive. My IPOD is on the supported list but it rarely works for more than 15-20 minutes before it stops playing. When this occurs the only way I've found to fix it is to turn the car off and back on. I tried to get Toyota to fix their software but got nowhere and finally gave up.

It's a bit of a pain to sync my iTunes library and playlists with my flash drive. I found several freeware applications and wrote a script to maintain the thumb drive. I have found that it takes several minutes to start playing the first time I start the car after making a change to the USB drive. Other than that it works.
