New member and new owner here (2 days). Question about displaying the outside temperature. I did a search in the forum but the answers I saw were from 2012 so I'm wondering if it's different in the 2013 model. I have a C2, so I don't have the Touch Tracer Display, Display Audio System, or Nav unit. Pages 334 and 335 of my manual describe how to view the outside temperature. On page 334, it discusses that the outside temperature is displayed on the Drive Information screen, and indeed, that's true. But, below that section, on the same page, it shows a drawing of the multi-information display and it says "The outside temperature is shown on the multi-information display when the steering wheel climate remote control switches are used to adjust the air conditioning system’s temperature or change between outside and recirculated air modes."

The drawing shows the setting temperature, the outside temperature, and the recirc mode. This is clearly not the Drive Information display. There is nothing on this page to indicate that this feature is only available with certain models or only with the Touch Tracer Display. That would indicate to me that it should be available on all models, including the 2, but it definitely does not work on mine. So, the question is, for those of you who own a C2, does this function work on yours?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Mine is the same as yours. I don't know why they put that lower diagram in the manual. It isn't relevant as shown, nor is it necessary since the temp does show up on the regular drive info screen.
Congrats on your purchase! Mine is now six days old - almost ready for my first fill up! It will be interesting to see how accurate the display really is. It says I'm averaging about 51-52mpg. We'll see!

Thanks for the reply. It's certainly a feature I'd like to have. It's tedious to get to the Driving Information display and it can be quite distracting to try to do so while you're driving. Being able to see the temp quickly would be nice. Too bad the manual is apparently incorrect.

You could ask your salesman. I checked my car while it sat in the garage, did you check yours on the road?

Yes - both while driving and while sitting in my driveway. No difference. I have to go to the dealership next week. I'm going to ask just out of curiosity. I wonder if Toyota does software updates? I'm so used to updates on computer operating systems that it just seems like something that should happen in the car industry as well. The Prius is a computer on wheels. This seems, to me, like it could be a pretty easy software update.

It's generally best to mention the section of the manual (or both that and the page number) as there can be multiple manual versions - on the website at least there are currently three, (one for 2012 and two versions for 2013), just makes it easier for others to find it and help you.

There are only a few small differences between the 2012 and 2013 Prius c and this isn't one of them. This feature is associated with the touch-tracer display and therefore is only on the C3 and C4. The depicted screen shows up the moment any of the climate controls are touched on the steering wheel (they don't need to actually be pushed).

Thanks for the reply - I thought I had been clear when the title of the post said 2013 and I indicated "my manual" by which I meant the printed manual that came with my car. Nevertheless, while what you say may, in fact, be true, that is not the way the (my) manual reads. The Touch Tracer system is discussed on page 188, Section 2-2, Instrument Cluster, of my printed 2013 Prius C manual. There is no mention on that page of the temperature display nor is there any drawing in the remainder of that section that looks like the drawing on page 334. The temperature display function is discussed on page 334, Section 3-6, Other Interior Features. There is nothing on page 334 to indicate that this function is only available with the Touch Tracer display or only with the Display Audio System (hence models 3 & 4 in the US). There is no mention that it applies only to certain models. Either Toyota made an error on page 334 or the feature should work in all models and doesn't.

    Cheers -
    John

Shrug, just trying to help you. The US manuals are available online, so I have seen it. There's no error, it's just not as clear as it should be that it's part of the touch tracer display.

Page 2 of my manual has this disclaimer:

Please note that this manual applies to all models and all equipment, including options. Therefore, you may find some explanations for equipment not installed on your vehicle.

C2s don't even have the touch tracer... do they? Thought that was a 3/4 option.

Correct, that's the difficulty jhearl is facing. :(
