If anyone is wondering, yes you can fit a 70" boxed TV in a Prius.

Picked up a 70" TV last night from Sams Club. To my surprise, it fit in the back of the Prius. Granted, the hatch wasn't latch all the way (used twine to close it as far as could) but I did get it home safely. This car never ceases to amaze me!

    I just bought a Vizio 55 inch.

It fits perfectly in the back, and you can even close the hatch.

By the way, it has only been a couple of weeks, but I'm very happy thus far with the picture quality with my new Vizzio TV.

I did however invest into a sound bar, the built in speakers didn't cut it.

I was hesitant about purchasing a Vizio at first also but the picture quality was really nice (store display models). I also researched this model prior purchase and had really good reviews from professional reviews and end user customers.

It's currently $1,698 via amazon but I was able to pick it up for $998 at Sams Club via the VIP pre-black Friday sales event for plus members / volume customers. It required a special invite.

Wal-mart however is having the same sale on their black Friday sale if anyone is interested.

Good to know, I just ordered a 55" and I'll need to transport it from work to home.

I had a '92 Saturn that I used to move several times while in grad school. Large, cubical items (such as a CRT TV) were particularly tricky because they wouldn't fit through the back door. My solution was to recline the passenger seat fully, put the TV in the front seat, then roll it back to the back seat then over to the side so I could raise the passenger seat again.

I always thought it would be fun to take the TV somewhere for service and watch as the tech tried to get it out of the car.

I fit a 65" DLP in the hatch with room to spare. So it looks like if you had taken it out of the box. The 70" would've fit with the hatch closed. The big question is, will that 80" from Costco that costs twice the 70" still fit?

I guess that's good to know just in case... If that's considered fitting(hatch still open) I bet you can fit a lot of "things" in a Prius HB!

"Fit" means you get home without anything falling out.

I got two 30" Gladiator Gearbox cabinets in there over the weekend. I was on top of the steering wheel but they were in. Didn't think about how big the boxes would actually be.

I bought a "Cheap" Sound Bar...it's not great either. But it's an improvement over the built in speakers.

I may upgrade the sound system in the future. The Vizzio television seems to be pretty decent for the price but the built in speakers left a lot to be desired, and my auditory standards are not all that high.

I just picked up another couple Samsung TV's, should be delivered to my work next week. After you use the best panels on the market, you just can't go back to bargain brands. Giving the smaller 55in to a friend as a b-day present and keeping the 60in. Both ultra slim LED, and look amazing. The 240Hz is where it is at. :)

There are some pretty decent soundbars that pop up on woot.com every now and then for 50% to 80% off. I bought 2 of them last time I saw them and I am very pleased with the sound quality. If they pop up again I might pick up a few. The problem with the sexy slim TV's is that the speakers usually suck.

The 55's I have stuck in the back of the Prius before fit perfectly.

Yes I do have one and the DeLorean is awesome. It is a head turner whenever I take it out on the town. I believe in driving my cars, not just parking them as art. It works like the day it was new, less than 30K original miles now.

60 sharp fits with hatch closed, but you will need a 5' person to drive while you hang your head out the sun roof :p. Btw I have moved a full size couch with dual recliners in the back of my old 08, with hatch open.
