    Hello

I've got a problem with my 2006 Prius. A couple of weeks ago the engine light appeared, at first just flashing. Some vibration and it was slower especially uphill. I went to the dealer that wasn't sure about what the problem could be and reset the car that for some miles seemed ok. After that the engine light appeared again and the car went slower than ever. What could it be? The mechanic spoke about spark plugs: could it be the problem? he didn't give me any code. I have checked the oil level and it looks fine. The dealer is quite far from where I live and I'd rather go to a nearest garage, would it be a good bet? I need your advice!
    Thank you!

Did you have it scanned to see what it is?

    Hello Bonnie,
First call the Dealer and get a list of the codes. Publish those codes in this thread and you will get some help. The Dealer did check the code and record them in your file. Do not take NO for an answer. Ask for the service manager or owner of the dealership and tell them that you will never go to their establishment again if they do not give you the information that you request.

Second, Where are you at in the country? If we know your location someone will know of a good shop close to you. If you put this information into your location field in your profile you will find that you get a lot better response on all your posts.

    Thanks,
    Dan

    Thank you Dan

I live in the UK (London South East) and I didn't buy the car at the dealer's, it was second hand.
But I will definitely come back and face the reality that will be probably mean a... mortgage :-(
Thank you again, I will keep you posted

    Bonnie

In the states, we have both dealers and independent mechanics who specialize in the model. IIRC, you have OPCs which correspond to our dealers.

Try posting a message here again with a subject "Prius mechanic recommendation London UK South End please"

    Good luck.

Welcome to PC from a fellow Britt. As others have said get in touch with the dealer and get the fault codes that you have paid for, and post them here. There are items on the car that are not to expensive to repair or maybe even should have been fixed by the dealer FOC. The inverter coolant pump is under recall and could be causing your problem if this has not been done or done badly.
