I can purchase a 2013 priusc1 for $17,400 otd right now. I just learned that the new 2014 c1 has an msrp that is $800 lower than the 2013 ($19080 vs $19890). so, should I wait or buy now at 17400?

It depends on how long you keep it.

The 2013 is a better deal, if you keep it for 10 years or so.

If you sell it in 3 years, the 2014, while costing more, will get more on resale.

If you're going to be financing and can get the 5 year 0% deal that Toyota is offering on the left over 2013 models that's tough to beat. We picked up a 2013 prius v last month and the deciding factor was the 0% financing. That deal probably won't be available for the 2014 models.

Taxes and insurance would be cheaper, too, on an 2013.

Shouldn't this discussion be moved to the "Prius c" forum?

Depends on when you have to buy. If you must buy now, 2013 with 0% financing is great. If you can wait another 12 months to Sept-Nov 2014, then the 2014 may have even better discounts since the base MSRP is lower and the 2015 C is supposed to be due for a refresh.

Get a Prius Liftback. My local Toyota dealership is doing a black Friday promotion. They're selling a Gen III trim Two model for $20,700. That's cheaper than a PC3 and a much superior vehicle!

I still love my PC2 tho..

Why is the price dropping? Why are dealers selling so cheap? Has the demand for the C dropped? Ugh!

Gas prices are traditionally higher than they are now. Less demand for hybrid. Just wait for prices to go back to 4 a gallon and watch the msrp go up
