latest # of HOV stickers issued?

All smiles today as I flew to work. Watching all the others jocking for position in the other lanes. Drove by a coworker and waved to him. I can't believe how stressful it was waiting for the stickers, checking the bank online every day to see if my check had cleared, rushing to the mail every night. Of course it made it so much worse that my coworker got her's first and every day would check my car to see if mine came. We park next to each other we know we will be carefull of the others car. I have found PirusChat to be very helpful in many ascpects if not the shared misary of waiting for first the car and then the stickers. Good luck to all of you out there I see on the road with your stickers yet.

2/24 Stickers arrive [postmarked 2/21 from Sacramento]

I just received stickers #49831 issued 2/18/06. The check was mailed 1/28/06.

According to a very knowlegdeable source- they probably will not cut it off at 50,000 - because they do not have time to do an evaluation.

Suggest you all start lobbying your local congressperson (CA State) to continue it in 2008 when it dies at the end of 1/1/2008.

Nope! tryed the carpooling thing with coworkers. First of all I had to leave real early and then sit in a park and ride waiting, still got to work same time as if I had just driven alone. The coworker I passed is a "car guy" into Mustangs and racing he'd never go hybrid. I like being able to listen to the music I like and not have to make small talk all the way to work.

 

as an addon, the small talk excuse is lame, it takes about a week before carpooling people stop talking to each other as a necessity and then you'd be back to listening to your music. the rest of your post was simply excuses...

carpool. don't be a wuss.

 

Wow. Well, I can certainly respect your wish for privacy, but as I think you realized while typing this, many thousands of people can see your license plate every day, without even having to go through the extra step of the HOV number... and honestly, there are WAY easier ways to get personal information.

But if it makes you more comfortable, I'm all for the X's.

Ok -

I finally decided to get my pretty baby the ugly stickers. I don't commute on a regular basis (I work at home), but when I do go out, I frequently get stuck in late afternoon traffic (and get reminded why I like to work from home) *ugh*

2/1 - Sent in Application same day I got FasTrak transponder (did that all by mail, took about 2 weeks)

2/21 - Check was cashed (Finally!)

2/24 - Postmark on decals

3/1 - Decals Received! Yeah!

My number is (Drum Roll) HE050016

So, they are defnitely over the 50K mark.

I also noted that they have enough number space to go into the 100,000s. So they are at least thinking ahead.

Still don't know what I'm going to do with the FasTrak Transponder. I haven't crossed a bridge in over 10 years.

Cool! I expected that the DMV would continue to process stickers even during the evaluation period. It would be a disaster if they let all of the applications pile up while CalTrans undertook a 90-day study. Given the 1,000 applications per week run rate, that would equate to 13K applications sitting around... Who knows if CalTrans will even do a study. It is very difficult and frustrating to find reliable information on this topic. Nothing on the DMV or ARB websites, for instance.

 

I received my stickers today. Not really hot about the idea, but gave in to the wife. However, the envelope only has the stickers and a certificate. No instructions on where to mount or how to remove. Would love to put them on a magnet sheet so we can remove them when not needing the carpool lane. Where have people been mounting them on their car?

 

My stickers came with the certificate, a notice about the program ending in 2008, and a second envelope that had the installation instructions printed on it (I have no idea why this was an envelope and not a regular piece of paper).
