I went from an '07 MGM Prius to the '11 Winter Grey. Can't see purple in it, but it seems like a mix of silver and black to me. Some angles it looks really dark. Loved the MGM, happy with the Winter Grey.

Asked my wife and 14 y/o daughter (who is an expert on everything) and they confirm that the car is definitely gray with no hint of purple or blue. She made sure to tell me she does not like the styling of the headlights!

Maybe it requires faith to see the blue/purple? If you only believe! lol

Maybe it is only grey. I will continue to hold my romantic perception of a hint of purple. :)

It is a grey with a hint of blue.
I went for a blizzard pearl white and came home with the winter grey. The white looks like an old lady cadillac color (sorry my opinion)
I wish they offered the super white in prius 4

Lordy, I was hoping that it would just be grey but now all I can see is purple.

Next to my 2006 Mazda 6 (which was purplish) the Winter Gray Metallic is downright monochromatic...not to mention dirty lol

We just replaced my wife's red jeep with an Atlantic Blue Chevy Equinox. The other day when I went in the garage and looked at the Winter Gray Prius and then the Chevy I thought the colors were not that far apart.

I had a co-worker walk up to me in the parking lot as I was getting out of the car. He said that when he passed me on the way to work the car was bluish in color and almost purple. When he pulled in to the parking lot it was gray. As we walked around the car in the sunlight it was bluish with a tint of purple. As we walked to the other side of the car not directly in the sunlight it was definitely gray !!

I like it. My kids are always my "coolness" experts and they all think it is a cool color :)

As was posted earlier, the wax you use definitely changes the appearance. I have always used Zaino Z5 which gives it a very deep dark colored gray but lately I've just been lazy and have been using Optimum Spray Wax. It leaves a much lighter gray with NO color at all. I don't like this as much but it only takes ten minutes to wax the whole car and you can't beat that.

The type of light(indoor/outdoor) definitely alters the color. This is a unique one I saw at a local dealership.

I've been looking at the cars on the lot for the last week and can definitely say that the Winter Grey has a blueish-purplish tint to it, at least to my eyes it does (seems like to many other's as well!). At the end of the day I wish that the old Metallic Grey was still available.

Back to the drawing board, or black, or silver, or..... :)

The Storm Blue on my Nissan Altima has the same effect. It can look blue, green or black depending on the lighting.

If you don't like that tint to the paint their is an easy solution. Use a wax that changes the optical properties of the paint.

For those that like it I would suggest Zaino Bros Z5 wax. It REALLY deepens the bluish purple of the paint. This is the wax I prefer. It makes the paint really deep and rich.

For those that do not like that look I would suggest Optimum Spray Wax. When using this wax all color is gone. In my opinion it doesn't look a deep and rich but definitely no blue/purple tint. The added advantage to this wax is it takes minutes to wax your whole car. I have to admit that lately I've been too lazy to use Zaino as it is more work to apply.

Well, I ended up choosing a black one....that makes two cars of the same color in our driveway.

Boring but it works for us. :)
