This morning, went out to my car, started fine, but the speedometer display and all other icons on the display are off. Except for the turn flasher indicators. 2006 model, 271,000 miles. Is this a recall item? I think I remember something about this being recalled.
I might add it got really cold last night, about 6 degrees, and my car was parked outside.

Bad combo meter, should be under warranty extension. Read the attached document and contact your local dealer.

Thanks. Took it to the dealer this afternoon, no combo display all the way there. The service guy starts it up, and presto, combo meter is working. I told him I wanted it replaced. He was pretty much incredulous at that. Luckily I printed up that info you gave above, and showed it to him. I do not think they have had any prius in with the problem. Then I had to demand a loaner car after their first refusal to give me one.
    Thanks for the info!

Glad I was able to help. Toyota is supposed to provide a rental car. Not all dealers are alike, so some balk when other's know how to handle these things.

So far ours is still working. I wondered if I would see trouble today or yesterday with this artic cold blast that is going on right now.

Anyway, glad to hear that you got it sorted. It will probably take them a couple of days or longer to get the combo meter and put it in. They have to program the new/refurb whatever meter with the current odometer setting before they put the meter back in.

    Best of luck to you.

It took the dealer two weeks, but the combination meter is fixed now. Display even seems brighter now. I think the cost would have been close to $1000, but I was charged nothing. Toyota really came through for us on this one!
