Hello everyone. I'm shopping for a CERTIFIED Prius to get the extended warranties. But, I've found a NON-Certified, single-owner trade in at a local dealership. The carfax is great, the car itself is immaculate, except for a little scrape under the front air dam/bumper, but they're painting it. It's silver/light gray, which isn't my favorite combo... I think I like black/dk gray or white/bisque best... but it does look pretty sharp. anyway.. it's the V so it's got LED Headlights, big alloy wheels, nav, heated leather, etc.... (no sunroof). it is beautiful. Should I buy it? Or is $19-20K too much for a 4-year old, almost out of warranty Prius with lots of gadgets? Would I be better off spending less or getting newer? Or sticking with certified?
I would go to the Kelly Blue Book web sight and see what the prices for that model and year, reflect. $19,000 seems a bit high for a 4year old car.
Definitely expensive... I recently got a 2013 Prius 5 with ATP with 11k miles certified and still under factory warranty for $21.5k. Granted that I probably got one of the best deals but the fact is I searched like crazy and waited with lots of patience. What does true car value say about this?
Oh, wow. If I could find that deal you scored, I'd do that in a heart beat. I guess I'm going to pass on this one then. Thanks!
Ok, I still want this one. I'm going to try and get it for $18K. That seems about right, yeah? As Current Prius owners, do you feel that going without a warranty is safe? It'll have 1 year of powertrain, and 4 years of HSD coverage left. No btb. Thoughts?
I personally think its ok. These cars have proven reliable. I've never had a warranty on any of my Prius and haven't regretted a day of ownership. I say do it!!!!!!!
You guys made me smile! hehehe... I get so excited, then I stress at decision time. Part of me wanted AWD, Impreza hatch or something, but they're noisy.... and I've never had AWD before, living in MN, and don't see why I need it now. Heck, I drive a smart fortwo right now, and have never been stuck... I just want a comfy quiet car that's super cheap to operate, won't break down, and give me a feeling of luxury going down the road. this one will definitely do that... WOOHOO! Thanks y'all... I'm gonna check into it.
Just don't wait too long, these cars don't seem to last long at the dealer. I've seen mumerous people check in here before buying then when they go to buy, the car is gone. Just sayin'.
That is a darn good deal if it's 19k OTD. Why is the mileage so low? Shoot I paid a little over $18k OTD for my used 2010 base model two years ago.
TTL will likely amount to $1500, so I'm guessing I'll end up financing $18K and paying the $1500 for TTL. That's about as good as I think it'll get. Does that sound decent? If it's gone before I get back there today/tomorrow, (they just took it in, and I had to go to a satelite location to view it because it hadn't been prepped yet), then it wasn't meant to be and I'll keep looking. I'm not one to rush things too terribly much. there will be other opportunities. But that being said, I do really like this one. And originally, I hated silver!
I understand. It sounds decent to me. Work them as much as you can on the price and good luck to you.
Seriously, I doubt you could find a better deal than this one with such low mileage. Don't let this one pass you by, go and put a deposit down right now! Assuming your getting it for 19k OTD and no problems with it.
I've sent my sales person an email asking if the car will be ready for me to drive after my dentist appt. No major issues you all are aware of with the 2010's? I know people usually say "stay away from first year of a model change" but I don't seem to hear that about Prius very much, if at all...
Just be wary of the way they set up the deal. If you're not careful they can pack it to you on financing. Don't let them finance it. Go out and shop. Better if you pay cash. And, don't let them know how you are going to pay for it until a deal is struck.
I've already got my credit union on alert. But they admit dealerships have been beating them lately... I can get 60 mo for 3.25% thru them. Not awesome, but not awful. If they can't beat that, it'll work out to a cash sale for the dealer.
I just realized something I might have mislead... it's a PRIUS... Not a Prius V.. heheheh.. it's a Prius 5. LED headlights, 17" wheels, navigation, heated leather seats.... still good? I'm guessing y'all knew what I was talking about. Ok, wish me luck! hope to go over there in a couple hours!
Is the dealer a non-Toyota dealership? That would explain it being non-certified with low miles. If it's a Toyota dealership, then I would be suspect. There is definitely some room for negotiation on price. If you like it, go for it!
