Voltage for amplified microphone

    I'm adding a Kenwood HU to my 2010 Prius II. I'm thinking of using the factory microphone, amplifier and all, for the Bluetooth.

    I'd like to put an oscilloscope on the mic output to check what kind of signal it provides, but I'm not sure how to provide power to the amplifier. Some of the documentation I've seen indicates 5 v for the mic power (MACC), other 12 v.

    Can anyone verify the voltage for MACC?

    Also, am I crazy to consider using the amplified factory mic?

    MACC should be between 4-6V when Power On and measured at the L45-3 conenctor pin. The MACC is powered from radio assembly via shielded wire harness.

    I hoped that the II would have the microphone pre-wired even though it is not used. After opening up the Personal Light box I see that there there is no microphone and, worse, no microphone wiring.

    I guess I'll be runnning my own wire up the A pillar and across the headliner to that box. I doesn't look like it will be hard to mount the aftermarket mic to use the existing location and sound holes.

    Would you have any guess as to the current output of the MACC pin? I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to hardwire a dash cam (needs 5V from a USB plug), and it ought to use <500mA. I've got a 2011 Prius II (no Homelink/autodimming mirror).

    I have no idea. As this MACC is fed from head unit, there can a variation based on radio type.
