options for switching off rear dome light?

On our 2013 Prius II, it seems there are no options to switch off the rear dome light for the 2nd row seating without affecting the front -- the rear dome switch is only 2-positions (ON or ON w/doors) instead of 3 like most dome lights are (like the front). The problem for us is that we have a baby that rides in the back and when baby is asleep and we come home guess what happens... Would love to find a simple solution to this little annoyance.

Does anyone know of a dome light replacement option for me that won't break the bank? I figure the easiest way is to swap out the housing to one with a 3-position switch. Do the higher model Prius come with this option?

I was thinking about fabbing a three position or separate two position switch and mount it up front. There are times when I only want the rear lights on for my two year old and not the ones up front at the same time.

Have you tried to put the switch in the middle? Give it a try. Works for me....

Black tape is a simple solution.

When I was a younger, I "tinted" my dome lights by adding a piece of colored cellophane wrapping paper inside the cover. It reduced the light output to an agreeable level.

That would be the easiest solution.

Have you tried moving the switch to the "middle" position as Burna J suggested?
