When you wash your Prius do you.......

Glad you enjoy taking care of your car, its one of the best ways to relax. I would suggest that you stop using Dawn Dish Soap as a car wash and buy car wash soap that helps keep the wax on the paint longer, Dawn will strip the wax and is not intended to be a car wash soap.

 

I use Dawn once a year as recommended by Sal Zaino to strip old polish off the car before claying. For other washes I use the Zaino car wash product, Z-7.

 

Once a year I like to tear down the whole car. That way I can clean every part better and check the torque on each bolt again.

 

I'm OCD about car maintaining/cleaning, but after having 2 cars totaled soon after major detailing job, I'm almost cured.

 

Thanks Doc, you must be a psychologist, because you just made me feel better about myself.... I thought I was the only one doing this. Heck, I'd be cleaning the suspension also, if I hadn't lower my Prius down so low.

I wash my cars when I can, but when really dirty, I'm on it. Periodically I'll wipe down the door jams. Can't say I've ever wiped under the hood on any vehicle I've owned? My theory, clean car on the outside, gives the appearance of clean car everywhere. Deception? Not me. Clean tires with tire shine and brake dust free wheels does more for the appearance of a car than most anything, in my opinion. Work especially, and home keep me busy. Washing yes, detailing, some day.

 

Is that black plastic over the inverter stock? Ours is much more exposed looking.

 

The inverter cover is stock in Japan, but not here in the the States. Bought it off EBay. Little spendy, but looks cleaner.

 

How would I go about getting the plastic under the hood looking new again? What do you guys use?
