Just bought an '07 Touring with 112K for $10K. So far, very happy, but need a replacement HID bulb. Hoping it's not anything more.

I got my 2005 /IV with 110,000 miles. My excellent mechanic checked it out first, but I hadn't yet gotten educated as I am now in finding this site. I had looked at one other a dealer was selling which was apparently in very bad shape like it had never had a tune up. Tons of engine wear, shocks, and brakes needed to be done. He told me THIS one however looked super clean and only possible need a serpentine belt. I got it at the average trade in price, which actually is a savings for me with the payment and cheap/efficient gas, over just my gas cost in my very old Caravan that was given by an in-law.

The cabin air filter was filled with.. stuff. I mean piles of stuff, I was pulling it out from the space in there after getting the filter tray out. Seems like stuffed-animal stuffing, bits of cloth, and cereal or bread some kind of food. Replacing that filter ASAP, I am putting a performance engine air filter in and getting a tire inflator as well. Its 12v was put in new 1/2013 but I am gonna test it real quick with the maintenance mode and make sure it looks good.

On my first week of commuting I hit 51MPG avg across 160 miles.

    • 12V battery test looked great. Sits at 12.5 and doesn't go below 12 when I start turning stuff on.
    • I bought brand new LRR tires, seems the owner wasn't rotating theirs as even their newest, 8 month old pair were strangely worn. Want to go back and ask for the exact optimal alignment soon.
    • Checked the oil level and it seems low, going to get it changed asap with synthetic using the method of giving them the oil you want used to avoid overfill.
    • Need to find out if it needs any recall stuff done. The toyota owner site service history seems a little sparse

Bought my 06 in August 2011 with about 113k miles for $10,500. Now I have about 178k miles. Oil and right front wheel bearing, only work so far. I'm the second owner. Was all dealer serviced up to being bought by dealer. New headlight, coolant pump, recalls..etc.
Car is loaded with leather Bluetooth Nav backup cam, sat radio...
Mileage was low to mid 50s on 80% highway with traffic. After new tires last year Goodyear comfortread, mileage went down below 50. I'm stuck with tires so...but sometime I can eek out 50 for a tank. Now my 12v battery is going. I've needed to jump start car a few times since last winter. Heck, had to jump start this morning off my trusty 74 VW Bus...ha. It was cold....
My only grip, I find front seat to be very uncomfortable. I'm small, 5'6" 135, and seat is hard and I never liked the pitch. But otherwise, great car. Great for family road trips, holds all our camping gear. Just wish I had a small hybrid camper.

Hi everyone. We just became the new owner of my parents' old 2006 Prius II. It had 122,600 miles on it when we took possession at the end of the Thanksgiving (USA) week. After a 615 mile drive home through flatlands and the mountains of West Virginia we were averaging 44.0 mpg. Now we're enjoying getting to know it better.

Well, I recently purchased my third Prius. A 2005 with everything but leather. Seems to be in pretty good shape, single owner vehicle, all maintenance done at dealer. 149,000 miles. After owning 2 of these vehicles in the past, buying this car does not scare me. The dealer couldn't believe I barely batted an eye at the mileage. :)

$6400. It is a totally loaded model with nav, jbl stereo with 6 disk cd and cassette (lol), Bluetooth, fog lights, homelink, sks (not standard on an 05). It was a one owner vehicle with impeccable service record. It has a lot of scratches here and there but the interior is clean.

Awesome! Probably not a ton of bluetooth/cassette combos out there. :)

I have purchased a 2008 Seaside pearl Prius with 117,000 miles for $6500 from a private owner about a month ago. I had to take a 700 miles roundtrip drive to get it though. It is a base model with leather. Im the 3rd owner. It was a rental car and the 2nd owner was a 70 years old lady. Very few scratches on the outside and the interior is clean. I only had to buy 4 tires so far. Hopefully I will be able to keep it for 5 years without any major problem.

Hi guys, been a few months. I wanted to give an update on my experience with my 96,000 mi 2005 purchase over a year ago now. In October we reached a year of owning it. During that year I had one tire blowout and replaced it with a good used one for $35. Saw no difference in the 50 mpg average. Changed the oil and filter three times, the cabin filter once, the air filter once, the transmission fluid once, recharged the 12v overnight twice. No real problems. The last time we changed the oil we went from 0w30 to 5w30 Mobile 1 Extended Life, for longer change interval. The mpg immediately dropped 4-6 mpg for about 4k. It's back now. We went a little over 30k in that year with no real issues. Still lovin the Prius.

Bought a 2007 Prius back in September with 151000 miles on it and it's the smartest thing I ever did. It now has over 165000 with no trouble. I'm still on a learning curve (never, ever run it out of gas, duhhhh) Was averaging 54 mpg until the cold settled in and am now averaging about 48 mpg. I love this car!

Back in Dec of 2013, I purchased a 2008 Prius Touring with 172,000 miles for $7200.
When I went to buy it from a used car lot, it had an accumulator assembly that needed to be replaced. I am a former Toyota technician, so I replaced the assy, and the car lot paid for the part. Sure it took some of my time, but I also learned quite a bit about my car.
I really liked the seaside blue pearl color, together with the charcoal color of the bare touring rims. I have already ordered the thin chrome beauty rings and chrome center caps. I also just had the windows tinted.

We get 50-54 mpg in the Summer and 45-50 in the Winter here in MInnesota.

How do you get that kind of mpg? My '07 gets 45-47 summer, about 43 winter.
    (Firestone "Ecopia" tires.)

45-50 mpg in a MN winter seems pretty darn optimistic. I highly doubt a Gen2 can do that. (unless is it driven only longer distances on warmer days)

    Hi All,
I bought my 2005 Prius in 2010, in a Toyota dealership near Atlanta . The car had 103 k miles and was Toyota certified. Paid ~$8500 + TTL. . Not sure about the trim level. Cloth seats, navigation and upper level sound. HID headlights.

I checked the car and did a test-drive in warm rainy weather, and did not notice anything on the body. But later, in cold weather and with proper light i discovered some hail damage on the roof - slight dents that almost disappear as temperature changes. The paint is not damaged, just slight dents. Still happy with the car though.

Later I checked the Toyota owners site and found that the ICE water pump was replaced before me. I did hybrid water pump recall, installed a new Optima 12-V battery and changed transmission fluid myself. That is all out of repairs. No problems so far at 145 000 miles.

    Thanks,
    - Alex
