Magnetic Grey Regions?

    Hi...

    This is my first post here though I've stopped by a few times. I've been on a wait list in CT since October. I was hoping for a package 5 Tideland but found out (here NOT from dealer) that color was eliminated for '06. Dealer never bothered to call and update my color/package choices. Since Dec., I'm waiting with my first color choice as Magnetic grey...called for an update and was told tri-state area isn't getting this color and they won't get it from another area. And he was miffy that color was important to me. My question...has anyone else heard that NY-NJ-CT won't get Mag grey? I get the feeling this guy is just trying to move cars and thinks I'll never know the difference. I'll wait until May for the grey if I know it's coming!

    Oh by the way....I'm considering the merits of being a Cool Chic with a Black Prius over my second choice of Driftwood...cute...not cool. Does it look great with tinted windows??? What other mods make it look really cool?

    Originally this color was planned for the May timeframe, but according to a later color chart, attached, it has been moved to January 2007 and, therefore, deleted as a color for the 2006 Prius. There could be a later chart than this, however.

    Love that color but looks like you may need to swap out for the black if you want to get it soon. The black is very chic if you can stand to keep it clean. Oddly enough if you dress out the wheels and tint the windows, white can be better than originally thought. The dealer really do not have that much choice when it comes to these cars. Pre-order will take forever and then may get "lost". Take another look at available colors and check out pics on this site and PriusOnline.

    there are innumerable benefits to being a cool chick with a black prius B)

    as for the gray, should be available nationwide in may, i haven't heard otherwise. i've never heard of a paintjob being available only in certain regions :huh:

    Ouch, I'm waiting on a Seaside Pearl in NY. Every once in a while, I have been tempted to call the dealer and ask for exactly when the magnetic grey was actually going to start showing up. If it weren't for the fact that I have a few road trips in April, I would be happy to wait. I would have asked for the Tideland if it were available.

    It does amaze me that dealers expect you to settle. My dealer didn't give me too much of a hard time, but he seemed really disappointed that I did not jump on the black Prius that was parked in front of the dealership.

    We know that it's a dream car, so I hope that you get your dream color.

    Tint: 35% on the front & 20% on the rear (legal beagle in Fla.). B)

    The reason I first looked at the Prius is it looks like a modern CItroen

    does anyone have a definintive answer about the arrival time for the magnetic grey? i am also on the list to get one but if it is not going to be here until next january then im going to get a different color. thanks.

    Normaly I would call the dealer. I am yet to find a Toyota Dealer who knows much. They all seem nice but not very knollegeable.

    I keep telling people that the current Prius generation reminds me of a Citroen.
    I wonder if they got inspired by a particular model.

    Hey all....Thanks for the information. I have a call into an aquaintance who works for Toyota finance and he is attempting to track down information on the magnetic grey arrival. If I hear anything valuable, I will post asap. It's true that dealerships seem a little short on info. A salesman in Boston didn't realize that the grey wasn't available yet. Another popular reply is that the printed date of May 2006 "is subject to change." Another salesman somehow "knew" that not a single grey Prius was made yet in Japan. It may be the black if I run out of patience.

    Has anyone done any pinstriping on their Prius? Photos? Recommendations?

    My dealer said that all the regions were getting the same color choices and that it was only the selection of packages that would differ.

    I don't know if he's informed enough or not, but those were his words to me when I called in to ask.

    So reading between the lines yields that if the Magnetic Grey is cancelled for the Tri-State area, it is cancelled for all areas.

    I hope that doesn't happen.
