    Hello,

I will be posting here the Mods I perform on my 2013 Prius C One. This post is for documentation purposes, I am by no means knowledgeable in car mods or anything of the sort, just trying to personalize my first brand new car without breaking the bank.

Thanks to all of you in this forum that have helped me find what was needed.

    Current mods:
Windows Tints, Arm Rest Center Console, Blue leds in Map Light

    Bought but not installed yet:
Windows Visors (Rain Guards), Cargo Net, Stick-on Leds for rear seats area and trunk, Door Edge Guards (clear), Backup cam and rearview mirror w/ display (ordered but have not arrived yet)

    Comming soon:
Rear speakers, amp'd subwoofer, Decals/ stickers, front plate (decorative)

Here are the pics and links to the items I have bought and/ or installed. More pics will be added as I get more mods performed.

Tinting the windows: (I took it to a local windows tint shop in Puerto Rico called Alpha Window Tint), great service! Cost: $110 +tax

Installed using mounting tape around the base and at the bottom. Needs some felp or carpet inside so things won't rattle while the car is running, but otherwise great quality and very sturdy.

Welcome Boricua, nice mods so far, I'm working on my PC mods, already change the PC radio with a Highlander Radio and look better than the original one, and just plug and play but need a faceplate to cover the gaps. My tints cost less for all windows ($90 approx.)

Hola Rolo, I saw a mounting kit the other day that may be what you need:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/PRIUS-C-CAR-STEREO-DOUBLE-2-D-DIN-MATTE-BLACK-RADIO-INSTALL-DASH-KIT-95-8239B-/360755991901?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3APrius+C&hash=item53febb955d&vxp=mtr

Also, do you know of a local place that sells used rims for the wheels? I would like to change them but not breaking the bank...

I have the plate already, I said that just in case you want to change it too, here's my radio on my PC, this radio can add the backup camera, saw couple of them on ebay by $$150- $200.

The one you mention only works on aftermarket ones, the one I have can be used both Toyota OEM radios and Aftermarket radios.

I'm probably changed again with the Prius C touch screen radio used, if I reach the cash to buy it je je.

About wheels, I really don't know so far, but you can get a search on junkyards just in case who knows.

    UPDATE:

Yesterday I went to the Audio Shop to try to get rear speakers and a compact subwoofer; it turns out that the C1 not only does not have the rear speakers cabled at the rear doors, they are not even present in the original plug that goes to the radio, and according to the tech at the shop when he added subwoofers to other Prii they had sound issues because of the feature that turns the radio up or down if you drive harshly or break too fast (ASL or so).

Well I went ahead and had the head unit replaced for a Kenwood DDX 470 ($299) and added some Kenwood Rear Speakers. For the Steering Wheel controls to work with this HU it required an interface - PAC SW RC ($99); and of course we needed the faceplate adapter ($18). Plus about $150 for instalaltion and miscelaneous materials it came out a bit more expensive than I intended, but I am happy with it. The amplified compact subwoofer will have to wait a few weeks before I can afford it.

Also yesterday I spent about 20 minutes installing the Windows Visors, that's with the cleaning of the area and me taking it very slowly...

So my car is starting to look the way I like it. :)

Here are the pics for this two additions:

Windows Visors, bought on ebay from this seller bestracingmotors on eBay whom I recommend for the excellent communication and service, I got the visors fast, but the post office crushed the box so the front visors arrived broken, I contacted the seller and after a sent a picture of the damage he sent the broken parts again very fast. Here's the ones I bought: 12 14 Prius C 4DR JDM Side Window Visors | eBay

    And the radio:

I will update some more when I receive more stuff or when I get money to keep adding things to my car. LOL
    Thanks for reading!

PD, I was not able to get the original USB nor AV/in working, I'll try to patch them with the ones the new head unit has, and the phone controls of the steering wheel are not working, does anyone have a workaround for this? Thanks again.

Do the visors reduce your MPG? If so, how much?

Yeah, I figured it was a matter of getting the appropriate adapter and/or add the cables to the connector, but I wanted it done that same day and that was the little push I needed to get me to change the HU. For now I am using the mic that the radio provides, but I'd like to be able to connect the USB and Audio In that the car provides and get the phone wheels control working. The mic I don't mind since the one the radio has works great and does not look bad either.

Thanks a lot Rolo! That only provides USB though, but I can live with that...

    AAAAANYWAY, here's the latest update!

Today I got lucky and the guy from the audio shop that did the Head Unit and rear speakers was not working on the shop, but was available to install in his house, so it was about $80 cheaper than in the shop to install the Powered Compact Subwoofer and the Backup Camera.

The backup cam I bought at the store since the one ordered on ebay with the display mirror have not arrived, and I will not be using the mirror anyway so I will sell it again on ebay. The one I bought is an Audiovox ACA500 which was on sale for $79. It looks great and have excellent resolution.

The compact powered subwoofer I got is a Kenwood KSC-SW10 for $179.

Installation was $60 including cables, materials and everything.

    And now the pics:

    The backup camera:
    20140107_101343.jpg 20140107_101355.jpg 20140107_101334.jpg
    20140107_141755.jpg

    20140107_141801.jpg

    The subwoofer:

    20140107_110947.jpg 20140107_111335.jpg 20140107_111454.jpg 20140107_111346.jpg 20140107_110947.jpg

What I did was place it on the right side beneath the foam that covers the wheel (I had to cut the foam a little bit in the under side). I still have to cut two holes and add some grills to the foam, but it sounds good as it is, and is not even noticeable in the trunk.

That's all for now. I hope to get more done soon.

This was in Bayamón, the sound shop is Nuñez Sound Center [ Nunez Sound Center | Facebook ] (I got the camera there), and the installation was pretty easy, I could have done it myself, but I am trying to avoid working with cables ever again LOL.

The steps are listed in the forums somewhere, it's basically take apart the hatchdoor cover, unscrew and take out the handle (where the license plate lights are) and drill a tiny hole where the camera will be mounted to pass the cables and a little screw it has. Then with a cloth-hanger (or something similar) run the cables from the cam to the inside of the car through the harness at the top, he connected a cable from one of the reverse lights to the radio along with the cam cables for the reverse signal to be received by the HU, but in the forum there is a thread that shows there is a pin inside the car with a reverse signal already in it. He then ran the cables and connected on front. Took about 20 minutes.

The latest addition was a decorative front license plate which I had custom made at a local shop in Plaza Las Américas for $26 + tax.

You might consider the mid-under chassis brace.

Toyota provides threaded mounting holes for one, but none is mounted.

To brace the chassis in the middle from underneath the car. :) Kidding. It keeps the body from flexing while going around corners and makes the traction marginally better. But it is noticeable.
