When you get ready to transfer the Address Book make sure all the (), spaces and - are removed from the telephone number as it won't transfer if those symbols are in the number. Also it will only transfer one number at a time can't do the whole addy book at one time. It will also not transfer battery state, signal state or roaming status to the MFD. It will automatically mate upon detection of the signal, transfer calls back and forth between the handset and Prius allow incoming calls. All in all I'm pretty pleased with it.

    Wildkow

p.s. You can look up numbers to businesses in your Nav and dial them from the MFD. Now that is Way Kuhl!!! B)

I just got a Sony Ericsson W600i to replace my Moto V551.
In term of connection, no difference. It is as good as the V551.
In term of setup for Bluetooth, very easy.
In term of phone book transfer, you can do a whole phone book transfer!!! (unlike V551, with which one contact at a time)
    I highly recommend a SE W600i to anyone. :D

How did you get your SE W600i to set up with your Prius? I had a SE W600i last week and it would connect, but go off after about 3 mintues and never reconnect. I took it back and bought a different phone this week, SE Z520, and I am experiencing the same problem. I have had them both in to the Toyota Service Center and they can't seem to get it to work either.

Toyota gave me a list of compatible phones, but the only one that Cingular carries now is the RAZR and I haven't heard good things about it. This is totally frustrating.

    I've found that the:

    Motorola RAZR
    Nokia 3650

work great with the Prius' Bluetooth system. It took me a couple of tries to get the Bluetooth to automatically connect with the RAZR when the car is powered on, but it works perfectly now.

    (both with Cingular service)

The LG VX8100 from Verizon, works decently but not perfectly. No phone book transfer; sound quality not great but generally acceptable. It definitely provides an audio ring tone when receiving calls.

I paired up my T616 lst night. I found that the volume level was fine on my end, but the
people I call can barely hear me. I poked around on both the Prius and the T616.
On the Prius there is "adapive volume control", and separate volume settings. But
I think this only affects the volume in the car. Again, I can hear them just fine, they
    can just barely hear me.

Give it some time; I'm sure you'll change your mind.

My w600i worked fine for a few weeks, then it started dropping the BT connection for no apparent reason (whether connected to my Prius or a headset or my PC). Even a wired connection to a PC was sporadic (verified NOT a problem with the PC, it was the phone).

The replacement w600i came with those problems out of the box. I didn't even get a couple of weeks with it.

I'm done with trying the Sony phones.

The Nokia 6682 that Lockline sent to replace the w600i locks up (requiring removal of the battery to restart it), drops the BT connection occasionally, and can't take a picture ("Memory full close some applications and try again" -- though no applications are open).

I can't wait to get a phone I can settle down with for a few months or years. I wonder if the Cingular 8125 will do what I need.

    Thanks.

    I will look into it.

I maintain my address book on my apple powerbook. It was nice that
the T616 was easy to pair. Do you think the Cingular 8125 will allow
me to sync all my phone numbers?

I was having the same problem until I realized that the Prius and my headset were fighting for the BT connection, and usually the Prius lost. Once it loses the BT, the only way I know how to get it back is reboot the Prius.

Otherwise I haven't had any problems with my W600i and the Prius. Unlike the S710a which made a loud popping sound each time I started a BT call.

I looked into the 8125. It is this windows thing that does not play nice with my apples.

I'm still looking for a phone with good audio charactistics. My sony T916 is useless.

    Edit: I ment T616

I have the Motorola V540 which is exactly the same as the 551 except without camera. Works absolutely great! :p

The SonyEricsson W600i is working great with my '04. I had the dropped connection problem at first, but I was able to solve it completely with a configuration change. On the W600i go to Settings > Connectivity > Bluetooth > Powersave > On. This limits the phone to a single Bluetooth connection at time. In other words, it makes the phone be a little bit back-rev so the Prius is happy.

I just got a W600i, and I like it. It paired up with my '05 Prius just fine.

But today I'm having some frustration with address-book transfer. Having finally gotten my whole address book synced with my iBook Address Book file, I deleted the temporary phone book I had put into my Prius and tried to transfer all of my contacts from the W600i.

It picked up some of them, but not all. Some of the ones it didn't pick up are ones I need to have in one-touch in the Prius.

When I tried to send one contact at a time, I could not get the phone to see the Prius's Handsfree as a device.

    Any hints?

I can't get my car to recognize the 650. Downloaded the latest patch from PalmOne, and still no luck. The phone sees the car, but the car tells me to enter the passcode for the car's device into the phone. When I do, the phone says, OK, fine, ready to go. The car still tells me to enter the passcode into the phone. The only option it gives me is to cancel. When I do, no phone is set up in the car's register.

    Any suggestions?

For those having problems with SE w600i, Carl was right. I posted that on PriusOnline.com once. The PowerSave mode will solve most of the problems of BT connection drops. However, I also found out that the connection could still be dropped if I put my SE w600i in a pouch hooked to my belt and covered by a jacket. It seems to me that the connection strength is not as good as my old Moto V551. So now, I place my phone in the cup holders near the dash. No BT drop if you do that (with PowerSave ON, of course). Factory default setting for PowerSave is OFF.

I haven't tried the phone book trasfer with SE W600i. No comment there.

This remains a huge source of frustration for me. I've had no problems connecting, but I cannot get important phone numbers out of my W600i's phonebook into my Prius so I can set them for one-touch.

I've tried every combination of settings I can think of. My problem is that when I go through the sequence of steps for "adding" a number to my phone book, the phone can't see the Prius's Handsfree. It just disappears from the list of devices on the phone. It showed up the first time I transferred the phonebook (incompletely), but since then I can't get it to show up.

Make a call on the Treo before you cancel on the Prius. This was suposedly fixed by past updates. I no longer have the problem but the call out was to old solution to force the pairing. Only needed to do it once, after that the phone with bluetooth on should pair automatically when you start the Prius.
