You will know when I know. Right now they just began taking it apart. I am not sure why they decided to take responsibility. it could be because its nearing the end of the 3rd week that they've had it and they feel bad.

Or it could be that they got word that i was trying to get a hold of the DM, i think they know that the tech never disconnected the battery like i asked them to which killed it, and that they were about to be in deep shit over it with the boss man.

At any rate, im not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

I should add that my car was completely fixed and repaired as of december 17th (including that batteries being checked over for good health) and i delivered my spazzing out car to them on january 17th. they didnt have much to stand on telling me i needed a new battery less than a month after they were given a good bill of health.

the car was clipped after i purchased it by a very throttle happy teenager. :( i would never purchase a car that has been in an accident but you can't avoid the ones that come flying at you. lol the body shop that worked on my car is in california and i have since moved to texas. the insurance company is going to send an independent claims adjuster to take a look at it.

Glad to know you have control of the insurance company and not a previous buyer! Looks like this is going to work out well for you.

indeed :D they quoted me 600-$800 just to open up the rear end and look for the problem. Not including fixing the problem.

they informed me that my alarm is an after-market alarm (was on the car when i bought it) however even after they disconnected it the problems continued to persist. So we ruled that one out.

no. all the repairs took place in California at a collusion shop. i am now currently in texas. My car is at an official toyota dealership right now getting worked on.

even though it's a mess, they seem to be doing a pretty good job of trying to make it right. impressive. is the insurance co. paying for a loaner?

Hard question to answer. Your concerns about what "might" of happened I think are valid. But your Prius is a 2010 so the battery is entering the range where failure is a possibility.

I think I would try to look at it from the standpoint that even if you are correct about your concerns, you're still probably just getting a jump on something that would of become an inevitable issue relatively soon anyway.

Update. the guy who did the original work repairing my car after the collusion got in contact with me. I explained all the issues i was having and told him that they'd had it for three weeks already and he was PISSED. told me he would call back in 10 minutes. Calls me back in less than 5 minutes and tells me he literally found the solution to all my car problems on GOOGLE (actually this site). Tells me to demand the dealership to put my car back together immediately because they are incompetent and remove it from their shop. Gives me a referral to a shop he is connected with out here in texas and to keep him posted. So now i have to figure out how to get my car back without ransom. lol.

for those who wish to know what the solution to the problem is, here is the link

I would leave it to the dealer to fix it since they've already told you it'll be done with no further costs. I would blame the guy that fixed the car if anything for damaging the wires......

It may be that problem, it may not be that problem. I would not leave it to speculation and just let them take care of it.

frankly, I think I'm ready to let another shop take a look at it. I am not happy with the service that i have received and this shop is much closer to my house than the dealership. (its an hour away versus 20 minutes away)

    Your options are the following:

    1. Bring it to a repair shop that did the original work, who possibly was the one that screwed up the car in the first place by not replacing the damaged wire. Also this shop is a body shop that is speculating on the problem and making an educated guess, not being certain what is the real problem.

    2. Toyota dealership that actually has all the tools and equipment to diagnose this car from A to Z. These are the people that built the car (meaning Toyota not the techs). And they've already agreed to cover all the costs in repair. Worst comes to worst.....they replace everything necessary to get the car running, without an additional penny of your money.

So if you were to ask......I'll choose door #2
