Anyone seen this or know what it is?
My wife just called to report that a large font message saying "Temp 72" popped up on the dash display for maybe two seconds and then returned to the normal screen. She is driving in mild rolling hills (≈ 100' elevation change max), ambient temp is 38F. Lower grill is blocked about 66%. This has not happened in the 2 months that the 66% grill block has been in place. We have had temps in the high 70's during that time with no warnings.

The warning was probably for 37 deg. That's for black ice on the road. It is above freezing temp but some locations like under the overpasses can freeze.

Check with her if the message said 37 deg or if she is sure about 72 deg.

i think when you hit the steering wheel temp control lightly by accident (or on purpose) it flashes the temp on the screen. then, if you press harder, you can change it up or down. i have done this by acciden with my winter gloves on because they press too large an area.

It shows the selected cabin temp way up on the dash display? I may have never noticed that. I only noticed cabin temp readings or settings on the lowest green display.

Thanks guys for the speedy responses. I sent her your answers. I am sure she will feel better knowing 'her baby' did not have a fatal error on her watch! :D

My question is completed unrelated to this thread, but how and why is the car going to give a error for black ice?

Just an informational message popping up on the screen, based on the outside temp. It is not an error message.

I've never seen that message. Didn't know the car would even alert me. That's cool!

Its surprising that a prius has this feature and not a RX 450H. I was in lake tahoe and the outside temp according to the car was 12 degrees and the car didn't give a warning or notification of any sort and actual black ice was present on the road.

I know Gen2 had that feature. I think I have seen it in my PiP. It pops up like "Low Fuel", if I recall.

I have been driving in 32-45 degree weather everyday since I got my PiP and I've never seen a blackice warning or anything.
