I remember my first test drive in a 2010 Prius. I was looking at it as an adventure to enjoy. I of course did some prelim research to be sure it was a car I could use everyday, especially since I have to carry other passengers occasionally - they needed to fit comfortably. I met the sales guy, a nice older gentleman who thankfully didn't give me any kind of sales pitch other than 'hello', his name, and asking me what I was looking for. We picked one out, he got the key and first thing I did was sit in the back seat to be sure it was comfortable. Once it passed the test, I sat in the drivers seat. It was so foreign looking to me, I asked "so now what do I do?" LOL. He chuckled and thankfully didn't go on and on about how great the car is. He calmly explained what/where everything was and said "push the power button". From there I was hooked! What's so cool is even though I'm not as amazed by "pushing the power button" anymore, my passengers are! The most common comment I get - "it's so quiet!". I leased that Prius but was so over the mileage limit that 2.5 years into the 3 yr lease, I traded it for my current v last year. My current sales guy, when greeting me asked who I had worked with previously, couldn't remember his name but I described him, he quickly went to look up who it was and found he no longer worked there. So he ended working with me on the v, and thankfully he has been with the dealership since 2002 so if I'm in the market again, he'll likely be there, unless he retires before I'm ready to buy again. But I send him referrals all the time and he always takes time to say hi when I'm in for service.

Cheers. My first sales pitch consisted of the salesman whacking the Prius bumper multiple times with a closed fist hands saying how they were rated 5 mph and telling me the lens covers weren't polycarbonate - but SWAT spec shielding. Then he started going over "special" service plans based on the Periodic Table - Au, Ag and Pt. Like I give a "Pu." Also, it was pretty obvious that he had never taken the time to discover the Prius as he couldn't tell me where the spare tire was.

I think asking a basic question like - "Are there questions I can answer for you"? would have been far more worthwhile. :)

you've discovered the typical prius salesperson. most of the drive tundra's or sienna's. what is your current vehicle and are you happy with it, that tends to affect how happy you will be in a prius, unless mpg's are the only thing that matter. most post purchase complaints here are regarding seat comfort, high speed stability, poor road condition braking, poor acceleration, noisy interior, poor audio system, and etc., these things will never live up to some peoples expectations from previous low mpg vehicles. all the best!(y)

Wow, that's really funny! :) Seems like it should be on a sit-com or something. I'd like to ask him if the solar roof feature is actually bullet proof kevlar or something!

When a sales person comes up and offers to answer any questions about the G3, ask them to explain the EV mode and when to use "B" on the shift stalk.

If/when they cannot provide you with a satisfactory answer tell them that you would like to work with somebody who knows a little bit about the product that they're selling. :)
