Are dealers even equipped to do this yet?

As is usual with any dealer visit, after they finish fooling around with the paperwork, breaks, chat sessions, moving your car to a hidden part of the service department, finding the computer to upload the software to your car, another break, chatting it up with the lot guys, actually performing the software update and returning your car to you....yeah, I can see three hours...at least :)

I have just picked the car, no difference in feel. Dropped it off this morning (Sat) at 10:30am and picked it up at 4:00pm. Service Manager told me that they are extremely busy with recalls today but only have so many computers to update the software that's the reason for the long wait.

Took my car in at 8:00 AM Friday morning, it was all done at 9:15 AM I also had them change that backup beep-beep-beep thing...now it only beeps once when I put the car in reverse. I have noticed no change in the performance of the car. I'd suggest you do this as soon as possible to head off any concerns......

I called them at 4 p.m. on a Thursday; they called me back on Friday around 9 and scheduled me in at 11. They knew all about the recall and had slots open for the job from 9:30 to 4:30 that day at half-hour intervals.

Showed up a couple minutes late; the service guy scanned the bar codes, said, "Waiting room's that-a-way", and snarfed the car.

I went to the room and played wi-fi and work email for an hour. They called me over and said, "All done!" and gave me the paperwork.

The car had been washed. Nice touch, but given that the roads are currently paved with salt in NJ and car had been pretty grody when I brought it in, they may have washed it in self-defense before they touched the thing.

Can't tell any difference in how it drives; the mileage is a little better, but it's gotten 10F warmer around these parts recently.

    As things go, painless.

I just did the software update on my car today - went to Piercy Toyota and had it done in about 3 hours. It really doesn't take 3 hours, I think just the backlog of customers and also because there are only two technicians doing this. From what the service advisor said, it looks like it takes about an hour.

I told a friend of mine about the recall and he tried to bring his car into another dealer in the Bay Area and they said they don't have software yet and to wait for the letter in the mail. I told him I got an appointment with Piercy and he immediately called them back and demanded he bring his car in. My, how quickly things when you say words like recall and lawsuits....

From what I can (or can't tell), the car behaves the same way. Got a wash out of it, so I'm pretty happy. I asked the advisor if there has been a customer who has had issues and he said just one 2010 Prius with about 115k miles on it where the inverter burned out. They think that it has a higher chance of happening to higher mileage Priuses. But still, 1 is a pretty small sample.

Back to putting more miles on it....

I bought the car lat Friday from Tustin Toyota. The car had the recall done as part of the delivery. I had spoken to the dealer and got a stock number and a vin number of the car. So the car was good to go when i brought in the check and took delivery.

Had the update completed last Friday. No hardware change, just a flash software update. Took 1 hour at the dealer including a free car wash.

    Service invoice notes:

    PERFORM EOE RECALL
    PERFORM EOE RECALL
    OP AGG09A
    CAMPAIGN COMPLETED

No noticeable change in engine performance or MPG on the 25 mile drive home.

Just dropped mine off. I made an appointment on Friday, but when I went inside there was no record or appointment in the system for me. This is my first trip to this dealer, but seems a bit strange. They fit me in regardless and said they will do the back up beep as well. Lets hope they don't charge me for that.

Mine goes in Wed (2/19). Dealer says they can do recall software update along with 15K service. (Hopefully they won't effect single reverse beep change.)
