The deal went smooth, the ride went smooth, and I knew much more about the Prius than most sales reps at the dealership. After all my research, sitting in it for the 1st time as the owner felt like I was putting on a familiar catcher's mitt.

Thanks PC Community for helping me navigate through a myriad of questions, and providing outstanding direction.

Congratulations! The salesperson that demoed the first Prius to us was a joke. He was transfixed with the B mode and had us dropping into it at every downhill and stop sign. Thought he knew the world about the car, but when I asked if this was electric steering, he locked up ( error - that does not compute - ) and said he didn't think so. We ended up buying in another city.

Congrats! Still waiting to hear word on whether my dealer is going to be able to allocate a Prius from an inbound shipment or it'll be ordered. Whatever happens, I hope it comes soon! :)

    Let's see some pictures!

Yeah! Another satisfied Prius owner in Chicagoland. I guess I'll get to see it at the next meetup. (hint!) :)

As long as we're throwing out dealer stories here, I've got one. I was on the list for seven months. One day I was out and got the hankering to drive the demo car. Stopping at the dealer, my "regular guy" wasn't there so someone else helped me. After I started the car, the gas light immediately came on. I asked the guy about it and he said, "if you run out of gas, just come back on battery power." Riiiiiiiiiiight.

I drove two blocks and put in a gallon of gas. It's not that I enjoy giving even more money to the dealer it's that I got to pull a Prius into and out of a gas station for the first time.

Congratulations! Enjoy driving your new addition!

My only real dealer story was from my test drive. It was a 2005 Package 6, and the salesguy (sadly I'm related to him by marriage) started spouting off all the 'features' of the car (power door locks, windows, mirrors, pointing out the glovbox, etc; wait! what about the bluetooth, navigation, homelink, sks??? ) but then took the key out of the fob to unlock the door (!!) and then put the fob into the slot to start up the car. I asked him about just using the SKS and he removed the fob, got out of the car, and demonstrated how it worked, then put the fob back in the slot and started up the car for the test drive. (!!!) Go figure...

    Hi:

I'm new to the site and still haven't bought my Prius, so I can't even be called new to a Prius. I hope I'm on the right thread. (I'm also new to posting anything, this is my first post. On any site!)

Anyway, I've been reading this forum for days now and have learned so much. Thank you all. I've done my own homework on the Honda and Toyota Hybrids, but it seems there is something new to learn about them everyday. As folks have pointed out, the sales people are, for the most part, clueless. I can't imagine how they make a living.

I've decided on a Prius (finally!) and I really only want a Package Four for the Vehicle Stability Control. So far though, I can't find one in Maryland. I did notice that someone on this site from MD did manage to buy one here. So it must be possible. Anybody have any ideas? I know they sell them in Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama, Illinios, Tennessee and other midwestern states, but aside from the fact that I can't take a road trip right now, don't I want to have the car serviced where I bought it?

Any thoughts on this matter would be great.

    Welcoeme chalawan,

I too had never posted anywhere. I started browsing this site a couple of months ago and joined when I ordered my Prius. The people here have been extremely helpful. During my purchase, the salesman who sold me the car, left the room and I overheard him saying that it was hard selling a car to someone who knew more about the car than him. (I had just turned down th extended warrenty because I knew I could get it cheaper here). I knew practicly nothing about the prius prior to coming to PC.

One thing that has been useful to me is the search function. often times my questions had already been asked and answered.

My wife thinks that now that I have the car I will be spending less time researching the vehicle, but I still feel that there is so much more to learn.

I get the "hint" and hope to be there. Has a date been decided?
