I just traded my 2007 Prius for a 2014 Prius. When driving I usually rest my right elbow on the center console, which worked fine on the 2007 Prius, but of course on the 2014 Prius that place on the center console is now a cup holder, which is hard plastic and uncomfortable on my elbow. The other day when leaving Target I cut through the toy department and just happened to see a Nerf ball set ($7.49). For those of you who don't know what a Nerf ball is - it's a soft sponge-like ball. So I decided to try it, and it works quite well in the cup holder. My elbow now rests on the Nerf ball. It's not a perfect solution, but it's pretty good, and if I do need the second cup holder, I can just pop out the Nerf ball. It even comes in grey which matches the interior.

I have to say when I first saw that new centre console layout I did wonder how that was going to work on the comfort side of things. I like your creative thinking on this one.

For that cup holder to hit your elbow, you would have to have the seat moved all the way up.........like being shorter than the Japanese engineer that tested the fit and finish of the car.:)

Well, my elbow doesn't hit the top of the Nerf ball, but rather the space between the Nerf ball and the padded part of the console. But the Nerf ball prevents my elbow from touching the hard silver plastic cup holder. As I said, it isn't perfect, but it's a cheap, easy improvement.

I actually prefer the redesigned center console to the one in my 2010. I've been wondering how easy it would be to swap those.

I need some help guys! I've search high and low and even looked at the parts diagram online for my 2012... I have the center console with the cup holder as well and I'm looking for another arm rest lid with the curve in it for the cup holder jus like u have @Bucco. Why can't you buy another arm rest lid like u can the normal lid??? It has to be available somewhere right??
