    First of all, hi everyone!

Just bought a 2014 Prius C (2), and I could not be more excited. Am picking it up from the dealership after work tomorrow.

This is my first hybrid and also the first brand new car I ever own. Ack!

So, I am reading everything I can to better understand what I am getting into, but I would love any and all tips from all of you.

What threads should I absolutely read to start off with the best possible experience I can?

Am still trying to wrap my head around some things, but I am sure that what I really need to do is get behind the wheel and experience it all first hand.

    Can't wait!!!

The best things in life aren't things.

    Congrats and welcome!!

I would read up on the maintenance forum for some general information on keeping your car in top shape.
Stay far far away from the accessories and mods forum if you want to keep money in your pocket. ;)
    Other than that, happy driving!

Congrats. There are plenty of threads on tips for newbies (and don't be scared of the stuff written for the Prius liftback - a lot of the basics apply the same or similarly to the c), though to be honest, cut yourself some slack and give yourself a bit of time to get used to your new surroundings. There's lots that's new and different and it can be a bit overwhelming, but nothing that doesn't stop you from jumping in and having fun driving it.

When you're ready, make sure you take some time to read the manual.

If the car does something you're not quite expecting, don't stress, it'll just be something you can Google later or failing that, come and ask. There's a lot of things it does for a reason. :)

There's lots of threads, but this one's not bad:

So, I have had Val for just under 48 hours. Already put 500 miles on her. (I bought her on Valentine's day, hence the name).

    I LOVE this car!

    Thanks for the tops everyone!

My gf and I went to a friend's house 160 miles away and realized once we got home that we had left an important bag there, so I had to turn around and head straight back.

High five! I got a 2014 Prius C (3) on Saturday and it's also my first new car and first hybrid. Have you found you need to adjust your driving habits to get a good eco score or whatever? That was the first thing that I noticed that will be a big change for me.

    Congrats!

Drive normally. Once you get a feel for the car then you can adjust your driving style.

    YMMV

Totally! And I'm a competitive person who does a lot of driving, so this will be a fun game for my boyfriend and I to play (he drives my car sometimes on the weekends).

I play against myself. I always win and lose.

  14. I can get start scores in the 90s pretty easily and often nail 100 to start.

Though Cruise always drops to 3 or 4 bars... o_O

Same... I get 99/100 on starts all the time, but it just does not like my cruise behaviour. Stopping scores are too often influenced by traffic around me, or traffic lights doing their thing.

    It's Cruise that kills me.

One thing is for sure, dont let the fuel level get down to the last bar! You may end up on the side of the road real quick. I have read many threads on people having problems after letting the car get to close to empty.
Also in case you didnt know the center arm rest can slide forward, there is a little latch on it somewhere. I see a lot of people that are amazed at that after they found it.
    Enjoy your new ride...

Yeah, it's good to fill up when the beep happens and the car says 0 miles. But you have ~1.5 gallons left, so it's a nice buffer and good to know that you don't have to panic exit the highway.

Oh man, me too! Mastering cruise is going to be tricky, I think.

Thanks for the heads up--I have yet to fill up, but I'm at half a tank as of this morning, so I was wondering how far I should push it.
