So I live in an apartment complex and my parking spot just happens to be by a set of sprinklers that go on at 3am every morning. This causes my car to get water spots on the paint and I'm looking for a solution and I hope someone can help.

My first thought is to get a car cover. I hate the idea of putting it on every night and taking it off every morning, but I think I've heard water spots can be damaging to the paint over a period of time and I don't want that. I've never had a car cover before, but somewhere I got the idea they are a pain to attach with hooks and tie downs that you need to put in place under the car. Does anyone have suggestions for an easy to use car cover... and I'm wondering also whether to go with a fitted car cover vs a universal fit.

Or maybe I don't need a car cover at all... I live in SoCal, so not much snow out here, but I came across snow covers. Something like that would be ideal, some kind of tarp or something I could drape over the rear quarter panel to protect it.

Anyone have suggestions for me? Thanks!

Dude. That really blows. Is there any way you can petition for a different spot? To me, that's the easiest and quickest solution.

A cover won't work, it'll be wet when you want to put it away, and it'll be a pain to put it on everyday.

Complain to the community manager. That should be a problem that can be fixed

Most sprinklers have adjustable patterns (or optional heads with fixed other-than-round patterns) nowadays. There's no excuse for wetting cars in lots anymore.... They can fix the problem easily.

I already looked into the sprinkler pattern... it isn't aimed at my car, it's the splash from hitting the plants that creates a mist and that is what hits my car... so there isn't much that can be done in that respect.

Oh, and also already asked about getting a new spot. Thing is, this is Hollywood and there aren't enough spots for all the units in the first place. I was already waiting about two years before even getting this spot. And because spots are worth a kings ransom here, I doubt I could convince anyone to swap

You can accidentally trim those plants that splashes your car.

Actually when sprinklers are installed the installer will generally set the heads to spray a bit past the desired area to account for wind and such, if they are the "rotor type" most pop up sprays are fixed patterns 90* 270*, 180* They should not be watering every night though...

I go with the pruning. Next time you see the landscaper, give the guy a few gatorades or a tener and ask him to do some special pruning for you....
