I have seen it on the Internet. 2010 Prius to be recalled to reprogram software that cause car to randomly just stop. Have any of you been contacted about this by your dealer?

Many threads covering this already. ;)

Some have received the software upgrade already. So far, no discernable difference in driveability or performance.

I tried to be proactive and be the first at the local dealership. They took 20 minutes and multiple phone handoffs to come back and tell me they had no clue about it. They thought I was making it up. I told them all the information about it and the recall number. Finally got the master tech and he said "don't have it yet, wait until you get the notice". Nice service.

You probably should be looking for a different dealership. They sound worthless.

Not a proper definition of the problem. It's NOT the software that could ever cause the vehicle to randomly stop.

It's seemingly very specific circumstance, the genesis seemingly being with the potential of certain transistors overheating, that further could again under very specific circumstance cause errors to manifest. The very, very worst case scenario would be the vehicle then shutting down or becoming undriveable.

But Toyota says there are no accidents or injuries thus far reported as a result of this condition.

It's a software update that evidently will change the parameters of how those overheating transistors are used. Preventing them from overheating and becoming deformed.

Definitely an important update and something I would have done. But it's not really the software causing the car to "randomly" stop. It's under very specific circumstance, the failure of some transistors, that under further very specific circumstance could only maybe cause errors to manifest...that could then as a worst case scenario end up causing the vehicle to stop functioning.

Since early release of 2010 until today, not a lot of reports of this becoming a problem. I am definitely going to be attentive to this problem, but I'm not panicking.

Called earlier this week to schedule my 20k service and was told they would do the recall update at the same time.

I went to the Toyota recall website and entered our VIN and it said our 2011 was part of the recall. DH took it in today and the dealer fixed it in an hour and a half.

Just as an FYI I ws contacted by my local dealers service department as it is time for my 2013 Personas 5000 mile check up and they also advised that there is recall servicing that needs to be done. They advised the work would take about 3 hours.
