Just had AAA change my oil. Less than 1 mile from the shop my CEL came on plus all the other warning lights. I was able to make it back to the shop. They checked the codes and came up with P2103 and P2111. He reset the codes and drove the car. I then drove the car. The CEL did not return. He said that the ECM maybe going bad or the wiring and I should see if the CEL returns before having it replaced. I have been driving the car for two days at both high and low speeds, up and down hills without the CEL returning. My wife drives the car on the interstate going to work. I don't want her to have the car loose power during high speed rush hour driving. Should I just go ahead and have the dealer replace the faulty module?

DTC P2103 and P2111 both relate to the throttle motor being stuck. I suggest that you clean the throttle body interior and throttle plate using throttle body cleaner. The Toyota TSB on this subject suggests that you use the minimum amount of cleaner, by spraying a clean cloth with cleaner fluid and using the cloth to scrub the throttle body interior and the throttle plate. Of course the engine air cleaner housing must be removed first, for access. Make sure that the throttle plate operates smoothly as you rotate the shaft by hand.

If the DTC returns, the throttle body assembly should be replaced.

Also, check the engine oil level on the dipstick to make sure the oil level is not above the full dipstick mark.

Thyanks. What problem does too much oil produce?

It is possible that a moderate engine oil overfill will result in excessive oil being deposited in the intake manifold via the PCV ventilation hoses.

I did clean the throttle plate and it moves easily. I checked the oil level 4 times to be sure and it was above the full dot. What should be done? Thanks

Thanks for all the advice. The shop that did the oil change drained some out of the car. Now, hopefully, the CEL will stay off.

Resolution? Did the DTC codes return?

I have the same issue and the codes. Had to car towed back home this morning due to it being inoperable. I also have a P3000 code. 2004 Prius w/123k miles.

We have driven the car almost 4500 miles and the DTC codes haven't returned.

    Thank you.
I ended up replacing spark plugs, cleaning the MAF sensor and the throttle body. Tomorrow will be the true test to see if I can make it to work. Cleared all the codes and drove the car around, so far no CEL or DTC. After checking again, I saw that the oil was not overfilled (it was below the max mark). I did get two DTC for throttle body, though P2103 and P2111.

    Update:

Made it to work with no issues this morning (about 30 miles mixed with small town/back road/interstate travel). Car seems to be running fine, engine sounds smooth, hybrid system is working as it should (as far as I can tell). I'll give it a few more trips before I call it a successful repair, but so far it has been OK. I have my laptop and the dx cable in the car just in case, though.
