I had mine done Saturday (and I haven't even received the recall letter yet). I was there about 2 hours, but I did arrive 15 min before my appointment and the car didn't get in to service right away, and I had a state inspection done during this time too. I notice no difference after the update, but I did hear that someone else thought their traction control was more limiting than before, and the car didn't go through snow as well. My traction control actually kicked in when I arrived home after the update, because I've still got some ice and snow on my driveway. I didn't notice any difference in performance myself, the car got across the ice and kept moving.

I had mine on Friday. I've noticed that the SOC indicator reads higher than I recall in the past, but I haven't noticed other performance-related changes.

I did get two "KEY DETECTED IN VEHICLE" messages on the drive to work this morning. Wth?? this has never happened before. Both came on while I was driving (obviously, the key was in the vehicle!), and I pulled over and restarted the vehicle for the first one (warning cleared). On the second one, I just kept driving and it cleared by itself after a couple of minutes. If this keeps up, I'm going back to the dealership and complaining.

Your tailgate not close completely, open and close the hatchback again. this happen to me "once" when I didn't give it a push to close the gate. Hope this help.

Thanks for that tip. I'll check & reclose the hatch before heading home today. In 4.5 years of ownership, this will be the first occurance.

I had mine done this morning. Took about 40 mins. He downloaded the file to his laptop to flash the system and then he put a Batt. charger on the aux. battery before proceeding. I asked him about it and he said that if for any reason the aux. battery gets low, it could cause the flash to stop or intermittantly stop and create errors or completely crash the Prius computer which would lead to a replacement.
So far I see no change in anything before/after the recall procedure.

Just wanted to follow-up with the group here, as I've noticed a couple of changes (for the better) in my Prius since the update.
    1. The care feels much smoother during acceleration, before the update it was smooth, but now it is smoother...I know this sounds weird...but that is the only way I can describe it.
    2. The battery status bar hardly moves at all, it stays at 1 empty bar from the top....even in stop/go or stop/crawl traffic, that bar stays the same. I have seen it drop to 2 empty bars for a very short time, but then reutrns to 1 empty bar very quickly.

I drive in "power" mode at all times. Please do not get me wrong here, I am quite pleased with the changes I see in my Prius....I just love my Prius.

I called my local dealer about 9:00 this morning, and set up an appointment for first oil change, tire rotation, and the recall software update. He told me to have it there at 4:30 PM today. I arrived with the car at 4:20, and drove it out at 6:00 sharp with all work completed. The tech that brought the car around complained that the software update was very slow on my car, but it finally took. I asked how he could be sure it took, and he said, it would not start if it did not take properly. The dealer report shows "SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR MOTOR GENERATOR ECM AND POWER MANAGEMENT ECM 2010-2014 PRIUS AGGO9A .7 SSC AGG09A CONFIRMED COMPLETE". I can see no difference at this time with the update in place.

    2/24 ****UPDATE****
After a few days of driving observing with the new software, the most noticeable different is gas pedal input ratio changed, I actually have to slow down even with ECO mode, I am still monitoring the MPG, my current MPG is dropping with the same route, same commute to work, I suffer 3-4 mpg lost after the software update. I will post update next few weeks.

I went in to Freehold Toyota in NJ on 2/24 for my 10k service and mentioned the recall. The service rep said that they had a "call" from Toyota in the morning to stop doing the software update because it was causing driveability issues with the Prius. Skeptical, I also asked the Service Manager who said the same thing. Apparently, I am to "ignore" the recall letter I may get from Toyota and wait for a 2nd recall notice that will eventually update the software a second time.

For those people that have gotten the recall done, does the toyota website indicate that the recall has been done?

I got the recall done Saturday but the toyota website still lists it as an open recall that hasn't been completed for my car.

Anyone know if there is a way to tell if the recall has been done from inside the car? I haven't noticed anything different other then when I got the car back the traction battery indicator was only showing two bars of charge (when I dropped it off it was almost full) and that Eco mode which was previously enabled was switched off.

    Thanks

Well this is a pretty huge development. Could Toyota really screw up this badly? Has anyone else had the same message from their dealer?

My update was done last night. It took a little over an hour and included the 20,000 mile service and oil change. The dealer didn't mention anything about Toyota notifying them not to do the update.

I got my update done on Saturday and it seems to drive the same (at least to me). I believe the techs removed the lower glove box to gain access to the ECUs to do the recall software flash as my glove box was jostled a bit. Now whether they removed ECUs to do this or there's an access port under there, I can't say. I have looked in there in the past and it looks allot like a miniature "blade" server with several ECU modules in slots.

Pretty sure the guy above who says you need 2 letters etc. and dealers are stopping doing the recall procedure is just trolling. I've heard of no drivability issues with anyone who did the recall, don't believe everything that you read here.

Had mine done this morning, no notable difference at this time. NO recall letter needed. Who knows if they actually did the software update. I was told by an Toyota employee that recall work is a big money maker for the stealerships.

Though my work location has changed resulting in a much shorter commute, I'm seeing what could be a definite hit on my MPG after the update. I'll do my old long commute on Thursday of this week and check mileage afterward.

I'm schedule in for tomorrow morning, first light. Taking it in to Longo Toyota. Called it in yesterday with no questions asked. If you haven't received a recall notice, don't wait. Just get it done. The dealer data base will confirm the recall with your V.I.N..

    For Canadian perspective:

I emailed our service manager, included link to Toyota Document on the subject of the software recall. He acknowledged something's happening, that our vehicle's effected, but said to wait, they're not set up yet, and that there should be a letter sent out. And if the letter doesn't come, call, say in about 3 weeks.
