After waiting for over a month and a half (and chewing through several sets of nails) I come to you now the owner of a 2006 Toyota Prius. I did the whole deal...the #8 package and I'm lovin' it.

I live in L.A. and since putting a loaded gun in my mouth would have been smarter than buying here, I crept across the border to Nevada. I was able to get sticker price in NV. L.A. was charging "market price," which is city slicker talk for "bend over and grab your ankles," at anywhere from $3-7k OVER sticker.

My new baby is about two days old now since I drove her back from NV. What a ride! I went from the Reno area (Carson City to be exact) to Carmel, CA (visit family) to L.A. and I'm only on my second tank! I was down to my last square (or whatever you call it) on my gas gauge when I first filled up (at 400 miles on the ODO) and topped off at about 10 gallons (costing about a third of what my soon-to-be-sold Explorer uses).

Where do you start to rave/praise this vehicle? The ride was so smooth...the nav system rocked..my BT phone is already in love with it. I can't recommend this car enough and I hope I never have to recant.

So anyway...blah, blah, blah. I just thought I'd drop a thread to let you know that there's another one of the "faithful" umongst you.

    I'm BellBoy and I drive a Prius. B)

    :D

PS: please feel free to point me towards any hacks that you'd think would be helpful/useful. I've already visited CoastalTech and I'll be picking up a few things from there.

Did you get yours from Carson City Toyota? That's where I purchased mine. Paid MSRP, ordered mid Oct. of 2004 and received mid Nov. 2004. Great service through the entire purchase process. Congratulations.

Welcome to the cult, um, I mean, the club!

I just passed the 2 month mark, and I still break into a huge grin every morning when I walk into the garage and catch sight of mine!

Me too! Each morning, just before I push the 'Power' button, I think to myself...'This is the coolest part of my day!'....

    And it really is! :p

Sure did. Was treated very well and so far no complaints about anything.

The only thing that I noticed was the "extended warranty shuffle". They wanted to charge me about $1300 for the warranty (86 mos/100k miles). I told them I'd have to give them an answer when I got home (since I had no 'net access). Glad I did since I started researching (on here as well) and read about Troy. I tried to talk to him yesterday, but he's out until Monday :( But I figure I'll still get a better deal from him.

Nov 2003 and I still volunteer to drive whenever a group of us is going anywhere... I hate to drive, but I still love this car! Coming up fast on 50K miles.

darelldd, i was just looking through your site, and really liked the LED lights. I've been thinking for a while about putting some in my old car, but now that i'm getting rid of taht junk, it's time to think about the prius. Where did you get the circuit boards for them? i'm not sure i would even know where to start looking

An EE buddy of mine and I make them. We're in the process of designing a new one right now specifically for the Prius. Running into a few snags, but we're working on it! My goal is to make some drop-in products for the Prius, but some of these fixtures are a REAL bugger to retrofit that way. And to make matters MORE complicated, the Prius uses two different bulb bases, and has FOUR unique fixture types to deal with. Why can't they standardize!? Would it not be cheaper to build the cars? Grrr. I can easily just solder them into my car - but I'm not sure I can expect that of the general end-user. I may create some sort of service where the customer sends me their fixtures (from the door bottoms, for example), and I just solder the circuit and LED into place, and send them back. I haven't given up on the drop-in yet. I've just odered another $200 worth of parts to see if I can make something work.

The LED interior lighting is awesome.

    Sorry for the thread-jacking BellBoy!

Me toooo!! I've had mine since first of the year, and still LOVE getting in it each morning to buzz to work. My friends all comment when they ride with me ( I'm now the official car we take for lunch) that it's like driving a video game !!

First month was 47 mpg, this month is more like 52 mpg. LOVE my car :)

    Welcome and enjoy.

You probably didn't have to wait six weeks and drive back from Nevada.

You probably could have gotten MSRP in San Diego and sooner than 6 weeks. It's only two hours from L.A.

    What color did you get?

Y'know I didn't even think about SD. D'oh! After talking with the folks at CCT, they gave me the impression that they get a good share of product from Toyota--I already had the car so I didn't think they'd be feeding me a line. Besides the drive back was glorious!

I ordered Seaside Pearl and I have gotten nothing but compliments on the color. Here's one of the first pics I took of her on the way back from Nevada--up in the mountains looking out over Lake Tahoe with the sun starting to set. Don't let the snow bother you...the streets were snow free on the drive back. ;)
