I have searched and searched this thread, can not find where in Japan you got these flaps for 12 bux. I need a set til I can find the lower body mouldings. With 7 inch wheels and wider tires going on I am losing paint.
    Thanks,
    Dan

Thanks for the write up. I just ordered the flaps and you make it look easy to install them.

Most welcome…. I did a lot of research and I didn't want to spend a ton of money or a ton of time cutting and trying to make a guard; these are the ones I find the easiest to install and mate up with the body of the vehicle.

To each his own though, I hope the write up helped…. Let me know if you need any other pictures or anything.

I like them black as well… I think the car is too short and stubby for colored guards, if it were a big sedan possibly.. but thats just me….. Looking forward to seeing the pics if you do paint them… I like the Moonglow; that's the color I wanted…

WD0AFQ, you're more than welcome… I'm glad I could be of help and contribute to the Prius Chat Community…. I think you will find these an easy install… Aside from taking off the rear wheels, it was a no brainer…

Yes, the wait is a killer…. but mine arrived sooner than expected.. hopefully yours will too

Well, depends on the vehicle, tires, and wheels. I noticed last week my wide wheels causing rock pecks at bottom of rear wheel wells. Just a short piece would stop that so for 16.00 I ordered a set. Fronts are my concern. Rears were not chipping. Some day I hope to find lower panel covers to cover entire length. The price did it for me. Some flaps will help but look like garbage. These seem to look like they belong there.
That's why I have them coming.

In most cases, mud flaps will fend off the small rocks and road particles that the wheels would normally flip up against the painted part of the back edge of the lower wheel well. If that area is left unprotected, the constant sandblasting action eventually wears the paint or chips it. If you look at a car with lots of miles on it, you'll easily see the damage.

In northern areas, the addition of sand and salt to the roads during Winter will cause further damage and in some cases rust will appear way sooner than it should. If you like to keep your car clean, the mud flaps will also keep a lot of the tar from covering that painted area.

Mud flaps are pretty useful for keeping a pretty vulnerable painted area of the car in decent shape.

I put on fronts only- they help keep the rocker panels and the bottoms of the driver/passenger doors in good shape by reducing the amount of stones/sand/slush in the winters.. I had rears on my 2001 Classic, but IMO, they did nothing to protect the car, and actually acted as additional places for salt and mud to accumulate.. There were really there just to balance the appearance on the sedan body, but on a hatchback like the C with very little rear bumper overhang, rear flaps actually look a bit awkward IMO (plus, on the C, there's really nothing to attach rear flaps to) so I chose not to install rears on the C2.. In my case, I just went with the $9 generics from Canadian Tire- if you press them right up against the body so that the cosmetic flap hugs the body and line them up right, they look very, very close to OEM, but the key is to make sure you line them up properly- put a mirror on your garage wall or have someone else sight down from a few feet behind the vehicle: a couple of degrees of rotation makes a big difference between an OEM look vs. Prince Charles' ears...

Eleven days and my flaps are here. They look like a perfect match. Held them up and with a little pressure they fit all the curves. Soft enough to make fit very easily. Thanks so much for posting this. As soon as weather improves I will get them installed using instructions here in this thread. Great bunch of folks hang out here.

I plan to get these mudguards too, but rrally want them to match the blue body paint color. Any idea how I'd go about doing that?

Yep, tried them but decided not to use them.

The fronts are an easy fit.
They're soft and maleable and can be maneuvered into a flush and snug fit around the vertical fender wall and under the horizontal rocker panel areas.

    It's the rears that I don't like.
You can only get a good vertical fit against the wheel opening at the rear bumper cover but the horizontal top edge of the flap is just hanging too much out there "for me".

I'll trim and play with the rears but it was a good $16 experiment.

The fronts are what I wanted. They will be installed on first sunny warm day. I am not too concerned about the rears. Will work on them when I get around to it. For 16 bux, hey, I say we got a bargain. Thanks.
