Boy it's been a while since I've been on the site, I had to make a new account ect.

My problem is after 9 years of flawless operation, I had a warning (1st ever) light, beep tone, and big red triangle show up on the dash. It's the traction control light (the one you see when you slip on ice.
This was after an hour of driving on dry roads, never want over 50 mph , plus stop and go -normal stuff.

I was 4 mi from home, braking and all seemed normal, got home rebooted and now the big triangle is showing, traction control symbol, ! , and there is a car symbol on the mfd with an ! in the middle of it.

Only thing I an think of is my wife hit a good pot hole earlier this week, no problem showed up till today.

And lately if I let the storm door slam shut (it's cold, so the door's shock absorber doesn't work) the car alarm goes off--- probably unrelated--

Any one have suggestions???? I should take it to the dealer??
And I was just bragging on the old girl to a neighbor, how flawlessly she had been running for all these years!!

    thanks

    Paul

The MFD icon shows the hybrid vehicle system is impaired. The continued presence of the traction control symbol means that the skid control ECU has a problem, if you are sure that the four tires are in good condition, the correct size, and correctly inflated.

So you should take the car to the dealer for help, if you don't find any obvious issues with the tires that you can address.

    Thanks

I just had 4 new tripletreads put on a week ago, my 3rd set, plus rear shocks.

Oh boy, I guess the joy is over!

It only has 85k on her.

I guess it's safe to drive it to the dealer, only 8 mi away

perhaps the new tyres are experiencing issues related to the problem as patrick stated. i think you can drive to the dealer, but best to wait for dry pavement. did you check the tyre pressure? i hope you didn't go to goodyear.

I just drove it around a little, and it's defiantly traction control issue I think . My driveway is icy , and when I accelerate slowly the traction control seems out of sorts-- pulsates differently than before (longer pulses and sounds odd), when braking too.

As for the tires, yes goodyear triple treads, I've had them on since the 2nd week I owned the car (9 yrs) they are way better in snow than the OEM ones

I need to go to the dealer any how, as there is a recall I haven't had addressed.

Regarding the four new tires, if your wife hit the pothole subsequent to their installation, you should check the tire inflation pressure of each tire. Maybe you'll find that one tire is low and that would be the cause of the traction control light remaining on.

I did that earlier, 42 front 40 rear, where I keep them

Now just the triangle on dash is on and car/! icon on mfd is only thing on

OK, that MFD hybrid vehicle system icon is serious and should not be ignored.
