DH was fixing an avalon last week, he took me to work in it when i had to drop off the prius at the detailer. wow- what a plush car. and the acceleration!

but with a 40k price tag (loaded to the brim) and the display showing 19.1 mpg.... no thanks.

but i'm thinking if the lexus is nicer, and i'm sure it is... and gets upper 20s, wow. not that i have the money to even consider it... but wow.

i like the ocassional agressive push of the gas pedal, but usually i try to maximise my milage even in my E500, i average around 21, im sure i could get 30 with the GS450h

Please don't buy this. Ionizers create ozone and its detrimental to people who have asthma/respiratory problems. HEPA > Ionizers

How ironic. It's supposed to help people breathe easier in the cabin lol. The nwe Camry XLE V6 has it though...

If you guys get 22 with a buick Regal I will bet you would never get close to the EPA rating with this Lexus. I will be waiting for the first reviews of the car. For my sake I hope they come out the same way the Lexus suv reviews came out. ;)

Got a reputable link that backs up your assertion?
I am honestly considering buying an ionizer, and they seem popular and effective.
I'd hate to think I'm the cause of ground-level ozone... so please let me know.

Hate to reply to my own post, but also, do any portable HEPA filtration devices exist (ie, for the car)? I use HEPA at home, because it's size is irrelevant, I just want the best filtration.

there are tons of sources. probably most recognized would be consumer reports

i will find some links and post them here for you.

but if you just look at Sharper Image's "Ozone Guard" that should be enough to tell you that there is a problem

you probably wont emit enough ground level ozone to induce smog on a hot sunny day, but on an indoor scale, its not helping anyone with respiratory problems

Why not use a piece of HEPA filter in lieu of the stock dust & pollen filter behind the glovebox?

Didn't know it was easlity replaceable, but from what I understand about HEPA, it is a system, not just a filter... ie, there are multiple layers (carbon filter + HEPA is a usual combo).

I wonder if anyone has HEPA filter replacements for the Prius stock air cabin filter. Sounds like a froogle/y!shopping search to me.

well i think Jayman has done it. PM him.

I'm using MicronAir's particulate filter in the Camry atm. I'll switch the Prius' one to that too once. The particulate filter cost me $20 at Canadian Tire vs. $35 or sth like that that Toyota wants for their dust & pollen filter.

    a) they have it in stock for 2005 models
    AND
    B) my Prius gets dirty.. again (I've washed it once already)

The second motor, the 197-hp MG2 (in real-world operation, the engine and the electric motors together peak at 339 horsepower and 362 pound-feet of torque)

I would buy it if not for the 25/28 mpg averages... OUCH.

I remembered the rumored EPA average for the GS450h was supposed to be something like 31/28. But 25 mpg for local driving using the crapy EPA tests... What the hell?
