I tried my first 0-60 test run with the SGII in Performance mode this morning and recorded 10.2 seconds. I forgot to turn on the Monitor Data so did not record battery amps like I wanted to.

I realized a mistake that I was making on my first few test runs in that I was monitoring speedometer speed. The speedometer is about 2 mph higher than actual speed. The SGII is monitoring actual mph. So this would explain the fact that I was seeing times lower than published :(

For your Boost Voltage of 600-650, does this vary or ramp up? The reason that I ask is that with my 2010 the Boost Voltage goes immediately to 650V when the accelerator is floored and stays there during the full 0-60 range. I was wondering if there were some changes made between 2010 and 2014.

This may explain the lower amp readings also.

This picture was snapped while going a lot slower. Flooring it in my experience smacks it up to about 650 and then as you let off it levels to about 500ish.

The max amps show 135 during my 0-60 push. So again, it may be that I saw the 60 amps when I let off a little to look at the gauges (prior to having it save the max numbers).

Also note I hit 115 hp before I gave up on the gas pedal.

See, back a few years ago when the 2010 models came out, I looked at dyno tests. I saw a few around 106-108 whp and most figures right at 115-116 whp. I saw one instance of 118 whp. So, after the update you see 115 hp. I wonder if this is hp at the flywheel or how it is calculated by the torque app. If it is truly a 115 whp figure, then the actual power output seems to hold true to the original power output before the update. I have read in various auto magazines 0-60 times ranging from 9.2 seconds all the way to 11 seconds. I really don't know how accurate any of those numbers are since different people record times using different processes such as different tires, road surfaces, holding the brake down while reving up, testing at different altitudes and weather conditions, etc. anywhere in the high 9 to low 10 second range seems to be right in line with original performance numbers. I wonder if there is any different in 30-60 mph range, 50-70 or 70-90 mph ranges. It seems to me that mid and high speed performance would be more important since those are the times when you need to pass someone or merge onto oncoming traffic on the highway.

His tests are before the update. We are trying to gather before update data so we can compare to after update.[/quote]

OK. Your data aboves agrees with what I am seeing. Good deal.

    Thanks

I appreciate the work people are putting in to try to gain some specific numbers.

But it is frustrating to me, that you know there are people within Toyota that know exactly what parameters the Software change is affecting, and also to what degree.

If Toyota would just tell us, what I think we as owners all have a right to know, that would make all this grass roots testing by individuals unneeded.

I'm on 1 week from my recall update. My subjective impression is almost no change to vehicle operation or feel, at least from the perspective of how I routinely drive my Prius. This includes inner city suburban driving and highway.

I may or may not be imagining a different calibration to the visible battery charge. Seems to stay at a higher level more often.

Yeah, when I asked what it did, I was just told it was a software update to the HSD and it would just make sure it works as well as Toyota intended and they always update the system every couple of years to make the older models work as well as the newer ones.

Yeah but that answer is, excuse me, BS.

This is a Voluntary Safety Recall. The software is being adjusted for specific reason. That Toyota does reveal.

Updating the system every couple of years to make older models work as well as newer ones?

That's fiction pulled from the nether regions of the sphincter.

See if they hold that true after a few years.. I suspect only updates if they smell lawsuit.

Thanks for the info on the dyno testing. That confirms what crabbyman is seeing.

I agree with you on the high end performance needs. I am hoping that the update does not impact this performance as much as I think it is.

This recall is turning a bunch of staid hypermilers into raving drag racers. I don't much care about 0-60 times.

But I do care about battery life, and as PearlBlizzard pointed out (one page back, quoting me): if the software's making the car slip into stealth more readily, it could be taxing the battery more. Hope not...

I'm not seeing the state of charge dropping precipitously, any more than before. Could be I'm changing my programming though: not trying as hard to get into stealth.

Whoa, this thread is long. I haven't even gotten my recall notification yet. Am I the only one?

My "hope" living in a CARB state, is that if the battery is being taxed more? It's being taxed in a manner that will make it fail BEFORE the warranty expires. 9 1/2 years would be good....

And for that matter you'd think Toyota would be factoring that in, with anything they do. If they don't want the cost of replacing some transistors in a power control module, then I have to think, they have thought ahead about how any changes might affect the Hybrid Battery.

Prius and Toyota have excellent reputations for Hybrid Battery Life and even with the basic 8 year warranty Toyota doesn't want a lot of premature Hybrid Battery failures. So I have to think whatever the update changes, Toyota has factored in how it would potentially affect long term hybrid battery life. Not going to save Toyota any money or reputation IF they update software, save some transistors BUT start replacing everyones hybrid battery in 5 years.

I haven't gotten any recall notification either. I found out about it when I was at the dealership for a totally unrelated issue with the JBL amp and the service advisor added it to the ticket and said it was a routine and automatic recall for a software update.

    Still haven't gotten mine either.
Want to race?!? Lol. I think the thing is people are worried about the max settings being changed. Some Prius drivers push them harder than others. I am here helping because this car has to last me a while and I love data.

Hmmm. I just looked on the Toyota Owners page and it's saying I have one there. I guess I'll just sit tight. I'm due for an oil change in May so I'll make sure they do it then if not before.

Haven't gotten mine. Living in the SF Bay area. I am due for my first 6 month service (I only have 2100 miles so far) in a few weeks. I'll take it in then and get the update if they tell me to or if I get the notice prior to that.

Mine shows on the owners page too. But my local dealer was clueless about it until I told them. At first they didn't believe me. I finally got the master mechanic and he finally admitted I was right and they didn't have toe resources yet.
