So used to drive a 370z (slightly modded) as my DD but now I'm rolling in a 2013 Prius.....

So might as well upgrade the damn thing  :
    PPI Phantom 900.5 ($210)
    NVX XFLOC4 ($15) - line out converter
    Polk DXi 6501 ($150)
    Polk Di 651S ($75)
Complete 4 Gauge 4 Channel Amplifier Installation Kit + 12 Gauge, 10 Gauge Speaker Wire + Fuse ($86 shipped from Knukonceptz)

    Today I ordered:
    NVX XQW104 + NVXWE110P for ($250) -> switched for 12inch version + sealed box (for now)
    24 ft^2 GTMAT ULTRA ($55)
10 Gauge Speaker Wire + Banana Terminals ($22) overkill :)

MDF for speaker baffles (free maybe)
    Screws+Nuts for mounting <$10

    EDIT (couple days after):

Spent a little more today and instead of retaining the factory radio got:
    Pioneer-AVHX4600BT- 7" sceen, 4 volt preouts ~$320
+ the required metra accessories and axxess steering wheel controller to make it work ~$90
15 ft. Monoprice RCA cable for the subwoofer channel ~$10

NVXXQW-12 - used for couple months for $150

    NEW TOTAL: ~$1445

Here's a thread another Prius owner and I have been having over at DIYMA about SQ budget Prius install: Prius Budget Build Questions - Car Audio | DiyMobileAudio.com | Car Stereo Forum

I looked at the PPI 900.5, but was concerned about the power output for the sub. If going PPI, I would probably go with the P900.4 for the fronts and a P600.2 for the sub. I ended up buying a used Alpine PDX v9 as part of a package deal with a PDX F4. My feeling was that the Alpine is a step up in quality and used it wasn't much more than the PPI. I'll be selling the F4 if you are looking for a separate 4 channel.

This is my first real build and decided it was cheaper, cleaner to go with a 5 channel if I wanted to go the two amp route and get a separate 1000W I would have had to hold off on the subwoofer for a while...I actually got the PPI Black Ice 800.4 channel to begin with and in hindsight it would have been good to spend a little more for an amp that could do at least 750watts to the subs but I'm more than happy with the specs of what I got now... I'm prob not gonna listen to it on full blast very often...

    That link helped, thanks!

I have an old sealed box that should be within the right volume, maybe a tad small, till I get together the funds for a box and flared pvc pipe build...also boomsday came reccmended on caraudio.com forums; he builds boxes for just shipping and materials... :)
