I think you made a good call. Better to be safe. Its a bit annoying to pay $20 for overnighting it twice, but IMO a small price to pay to get the stickers which I think you will.

    Thanks for this!
This confirms the average processing time to be 1.5 weeks from when the application reached the DMV to when the stickers are received.

I think its awesome that your application reached the DMV 4 days after mine (3/28 vs 4/2) and you also got the stickers 4 days after I got mine (4/8 vs 4/12). The pipeline seems to be consistent now.
Which means cracker8199 should be getting his stickers around 4/22 or 4/23 if he had overnighted it.

The current burn rate seems to be around 2xx stickers per week
    EH396xx at 3/29
    EH398xx at 4/07

So roughly 40 stickers per weekday, kinda in line with billofsky's graph that forecasted 30 stickers a day earlier.

Huge sigh of relief...Got my Green stickers yesterday. Here's the timeline:
3/12 - Bought Prius Plug In
4/2 - Received plates and Mailed Green Sticker Application same day via overnight.
4/7 - Issue date on Registration
4/9 - Bank showed check cleared
4/10 - Postmark on DMV envelope
4/12 - Happy guy received stickers in mail. Sticker # is a few numbers away from 39850

46 per day, up from 30 per day in the last period. But if you don't count weekends, it's a little closer.

Projecting at the rate over the last week, Doomsday is May 9. But the rate might increase if dealers start selling out of the pre-stickered cars.

UPDATE: one of my two $8 checks was cashed as of 4/14 (that's the date I'm seeing in my mobile banking app)...not sure if it was the first or second one. I'll check when I get home tonight and update here...but it seems I might be on track. Knock on wood...

Got plate # today. Decided to wait 'til tmr to call the Sacto office, first to verify from their end it's in the system, and also whether they okay sending it before overnighting it in. The FAQ page on submitting the app say you're required to have physical plates (signifying that you definitely have a plate # that isn't going to change) as well as have physically received a DMV-issued reg card (signifying completion of transfer of ownership title from the state's end). Just gonna see how necessary that all is. :)

Just got home from the padres game, my stickers waiting for me in the mailbox! #39933, issued 4/10...it was indeed the first check that was cashed. So, sending the second was unnecessary...hopefully they will just send it back to me.

most people here seem to think there will be stickers issued with numbers greater than 40000, so you still might be OK. they did in fact cash my first check, so from the day i overnighted it (4/1) it took 10 days for the sticker to be issued and 14 days for me to receive it (oddly enough, the check was cashed on the day i received the stickers).

edit: in fact, if the numbers they posted on the web are correct, that would indicate they almost have to be planning to issue stickers with numbers 40xxx, if not even 41xxx. they said only 38,803 stickers were issued as of the morning of the 14th, but my sticker issued on the 10th was 399xx.

Hah, thanks for trying to imagine ways there might be a silver lining. The publicly listed number seems like it might be due to plain lag from issue to count. I certainly won't *mind* if they're numbering them strangely and there're really still ~1200 left, of course! (However they count it, it'd be amusing to get exactly number 40000...)

thanks! random question for my fellow OC folks - has anyone tried arguing with the people that run the 91 express lanes that green stickers should be able to get a special access account? i tried, but they argued that since they're toll lanes specifically the law doesn't apply...my argument was that since they allow 3+ to travel free (or 50% discount eastbound mon-fri from 4-6pm) that they are by definition a HOT lane and green sticker vehicles should be exempt from tolls...

i tried e-mailing sacramento on this via their contact us link, but haven't gotten a response. curious if anyone here has any opinion on it (had this discussion on a different volt forum, nobody really had any idea or seemed to care)...

Crackers, glad you were successful and finally got your stickers. I'm in the camp that believes #39999 is going to be the end. Anyway, enjoy your time saving HOV access! :)

I think the 91 Express Lanes is a whole different topic that deserves it's own thread. If I recall Assembly Bill 2405 exempts White and Green HOV Stickers from paying tolls in HOT lanes, but I was under the impression the only ones it mattered for were the 10 and 110. I did not think the 91 was an HOT lane and instead considered more like a toll highway, hence exempt from Assembly Bill 2405, otherwise the 91 Express Lanes would be prohibited from charging White and Green HOV Stickers a toll.

And btw, congrats on your stickers. If it indeed is a 40k cutoff (we'll find out very soon), you barely made it!

App was mailed on 4/1 by the dealership. I called twice recently and got the same 3/19-3/20 backed up answer. Asked them to check by LP#/Vin# and got nothing. I mailed a secondary app against yesterday 4/14 just in case. I'm really starting to panic here.

Cracker (congratz btw), it sounds like they received and processed your first app the whole time even though they gave you the same 3/19-3/20-no record in the system BS?

That's the reasoning they gave me, which makes sense...my argument was that since they allow 3+ free or discounted, doesn't that make them HOT? Maybe by law it doesn't, but by common sense it does...at least to me.
