I got my Brand new 2014 Prius C about 2 weeks ago. Enjoyed it greatly for about 8 days and then it stalled. "Check Hybrid System". Today they diagnosed the problem as a faulty Inverter. They had to order a new one from California. I'll be driving a rented Corolla for the next week or so.

"Rented" or "Loaner"? My extended warranty specifies "Loaner" (you might want to check yours!) Good luck, and enjoy your new Prius (despite the shaky start!) - Wil

P.S: Welcome to PriusChat - lots of great information, and many friendly experts only too happy to share their experiences and knowledge!
P.P.S: ...and come to think of it, why not a Loaner Prius?

Wow, that is not the norm, hope this will not give you buyers remorse. These are really fantastic cars.

I still have Faith, though some of my friends don't. LOL. I'm assuming that it was just a Bum part, just a bit of bad luck.

The car is essentially a loaner, yes. Toyota is paying the rental fees.

Something always has to happen to a new car, like a scratch or a ding, sometimes this happens in the first few days, or it takes weeks. So now that the new car has been "damaged", it should be smooth driving moving forward. My C on day 5 was parked in a garage, and someone stole the roof antenna. It cost $40.00 for a new antenna! It turns out that crack addicts steal roof antenna' s like the ones used by Toyota, to make CRACK pipes!

Uh.Oh. I''ll have to be careful when I park it at my Girlfriend's place then: She lives in the heart of Ford Nation (as in Rob Ford)!

Right? I bought my Prius just last week, and it had to spend the night at the dealership before I could pick it up. My job involves a LOT of driving, so they gave me a loaner Camry for the next day. Nice car, but man, I was like a kid at Christmas having to wait to play with my new toy. It would have been nice to drive a loaner Prius just to kind of scratch that itch.

Hope your car otherwise brings you lots of joy, OP.

When I get a new car, I always say I should just take a ball-peen hammer and go around it and ding it a time or two to get it over with. Sure enough, just on the drive from the dealership to my house last week, there was a tiny ding on the side rear of my car. I guess I got it over with pretty quickly. Now it's mine. Now I just need to crack the windshield and get that over with. Every single car I've ever had has caught a rock in the windshield and needed repair. Except the one that hail got. That needed replacement.

Most auto insurers in Massachusetts used to have a windshield replacement without losing no-claims bonus (I think it's the same in New Hamster) - I remember coming back from an 8 week stint in NZ & Oz in the depths of winter (Jan/Feb) and starting up my old 1993 Corolla, and without stopping to consider the low temps (way, way down), but was reminded by a sharp "crack!" and saw a crack appear along the whole lower edge of the windshield (right next to the vents! (Buggeration! Note to self: Don't ever do that again!) - but at least the old girl started first crank! :D

Not that the inverter issue isn't important (glad it's being replaced) but you're the first one on PriusChat with a yellow Prius c!!!!

Yep. I saw it on the lot in Peterborough Ontario and had to have it. I always liked Boldly coloured cars.

Interesting point, that he is the first on Priuschat with a yellow C, I have not seen any yellow ones on the road in Southern Cal! Wonder if this color will not be received well?

Yellow seems a bit rare. It is not for everyone.

…years ago when I lived in the UK, all the GPO vans were painted dull green (anyone else remember them?) and after a survey to find the safest colours for cars, it was found that the Lotus Elan 4s were involved in far fewer accidents per mile driven, most Loti were only available in day-glo yellow or bright green, henceforth all the GPO (now BT) commercial vehicles were painted in day-glo colours (mostly BT yellow) - Wil (ChuggyPig is resplendent in a smart Magnetic Grey!)

And go figure all UPS trucks are dark brown! Maybe they did a study as well on colors and found that brown made them faster :ROFLMAO:

This is the first year they've offered it in Canada or the U.S. (It's been available in Japan since its inaugural year)
