does anyone know whose car this is? pretty incredible mileage. Would like to know more about the car. Any issues? battery replaced? Brakes? What is mpg like? would love to get some info on this. How did you get to this mileage in such a short timeframe?

In addition, is anyone with a gen 3 even close to this?

he/she posted it on twitter. the twitter handle is @300KandCounting

I am somewhat surprised this hasn't been more of a story. i know in the gen 2 prius models there was a person who had a delivery business who quickly racked up 500k + miles. I am always curious about how this car fares.

I doubt that the driver of the vehicle will have some spare time in his/her life to be clinging in PC.

My coworker's 04 (bought 1/05) currently has 352k miles, an average of 37k/yr. He bought it new and has been the only driver. Beside tires and oil changes, both batteries are original and never gave him any warning light. He's averaging 42mpg, though he said he averaged about 50mpg up to around 150k. Oil burn is about half quart every 2-3 months. He did had to replace the catalytic converter twice, and a water pump recently. No other major problems beside maintenance.

I think what has been helping is his commute of about 150 miles each day (75 miles each way), four days a week, all freeway miles and no traffic either way.

He's very confident his Prius will go to 500k without any major problems, so much so that he and I are betting that I will treat him to a fancy and substantial meal. We'll see.

When it reaches 500k, he plans for me to help him look for a new Avalon Hybrid as a replacement.
    :)

I find that the Avalon hybrid is a good choice, good luck in your hunt.

Might not necessarily be "oil burn" through the pistons. Most likely one of his crankshaft or other seals are starting to leak. Crank seals leak, but since they are above the oil pan, they only leak what falls down onto them. So half quart every couple thousand miles sounds about right.

I'm at 231K - I have a delivery business as well but am experiencing oil consumption that is more than the norm.
