I removed the rear cargo tray for a trip to give me a little more room to pack. I noticed the cargo trays seem to be designed to funnel air flow through the 220volt battery area. In removing these pieces am I risking something in the battery area overheating from reduced airflow? I'm keeping an eye out to make sure the vent on the right side of the back seat does not get blocked.

BTW I'm keeping the spare tire. I know I won't need it, at least until I don't have one. :)

It is also designed to channel air through the 12V battery area, so I'd keep the cargo tray in place.

I decided to pull out the inner tray but leaves the top and side on. That allows me to get a thin bag, diapers, wipes, and toiletries down below, but should still channel air through the battery areas. I made sure the thing I packed wouldn't block airflow.
