    Sorry if i wasnt clear. I already replaced the none functioning odo. I expected the second odo to last to 299,999 but it failed before it got there.

    Purchased prius with full race cage at 342,000 miles. Drove it cross country and did 11 more hours of endurance racing; it now has over 347,000 miles. If we can solve the electrical gremlins, then maybe it will make it to 350,000 miles before the next race!

    A question please. Did any of you high mileage people have to replace seals on the transmission or the engine crankshaft?

    I recently bought the Prius from my taxi driver at 295,000 miles. Only done an extra 1,000 since but still on original traction and auxiliary battery by the looks of it although she needed a new head gasket. Seems to be running fine now. I'll post here when I hit the big 300!

    Well I stop reading this post in page 26 It was a great movie until i watched a YouTube video and on info said 2fast4you traded for a prius V then i came to 40 page at the end saddly... So my prius has 186000 miles seems its the original Battery and 3rd starter battery.. I didnt know brake pads last so long... The prius from 2fast4you got paid 5 times by itself

    Well... I am VERY close to this... I am at 290,151 and I am on all original parts... minus the front bumper from hitting a raccoon.

    2006 Red Prius Gen 2

    1) Did you replace the HV battery pack? not at all according to the previous owner.
    2) Did you replace the hybrid transaxle fluid? not since I have owned it
    3) Did you replace the brake pads? Not since Ihave owned it
    4) Your lifetime MPG (if available)? Average about 40
    5) How often do you change your oil? What brand / product did you use? 5k miles synthetic
    6) How about post a picture of 300,000 miles on ODO? 290156
    7) Others? none

    3) brake pads, front yes @ 200,000 rear no 367,000 and counting
    4) MPG lifetime 42 mpg
    5) first 30,000 dealer every 5,000 then Castrol "use your dip stick man!" Syntec full synthetic every 10,000 Bosch oil filters.
    6) my odometer stopped at 299,999 miles. I waited several miles....... I use the trip meter now adding 10,000 as I go.

    I am surprised that many people have never changed the transaxle fluid at such high mileage!!!

    I don't understand people who take-out a loan just to buy a car. If my car suddenly died & I needed to borrow the money, that's different, but as long as the car still runs there's no reason to buy another. I prefer to save the money first. (Every car I currently own was paid cash, which means no monthly bills to worry about.)
    No dealer sells a car at a loss. Toyota routinely gives a $2000 discount to their dealers, which the dealer did not reveal to you. (On some months they offer $3000 to dealers.) That would mean you spent $1500 over dealer-rebated cost.

    ALSO: Any savings from the pricetag would be wiped-out by the ~5 year loan you've been carrying.

    Is there any way to fix the stuck ODO and continue counting past 299999? What if I want to sell it? How will I know what the true mileage is?

    9) Feel free to add anything else you wish to share This car was used as a curior vehicle for many years. It's beat up but keeps on ticking. A great (but hideous) commuter vehicle.

    Mine stopped counting at 299,999. Its close to were it was when I bought it in 2008 from the first owner. It has to be around 350K now, but I lost the trip odometer when the 12v battery went out. I've taken about 10 trips from Boston to Evansville IN and when in Massachusetts, we drove all over the east coast exploring and looking for a house for about 6 months.
    As far as I know it has the original HV battery and it still performs good.
    Unfortunately, the transmission fluid was never changed and it to be replaced. I got a great deal on an engine and transmission pair from Autobeyours(in Scottsburg, IN), so I replaced both because the engine had some blow-by. Done around 300K
    I believe the brakes are original, I look ahead for stops and slow by coasting and light breaking most of the time, plus, most of the original mileage is from Interstate highways. I think the first owner drove it hard, putting about 100K miles/year.

    Yikes. I went out to start the car and I have nothing, no lights, no sounds, its dead. I parked the car on Wednesday evening. On Friday, rain was approaching so I booted the car without depressing the brake, to roll up the windows, then turned it off. Now, the next day, I find the car 100% unresponsive. I have been checking fuses and tried to jump-start it, but nothing happens, no lights, beeps or any other signs of life. At first I thought it was the 12v battery, but I eliminated it from my list because the car does not respond to externally applied power as in jump starting - not a light nor sound.
    I found three fuse boxes. In the main panel under the hood, I have pulled and found all of the smaller fuses and the fusaable links under the clear section to be good, in the main panel, under the hood, but I don't have a meter with me to check the larger bulging fuses. I don't know if there is a way to check them visually since they are solid colors that you cannot see into. I also checked the two fuses in the rear box, they both look in good shape. I checked some of the fuses in the box in the driver compartment, those smaller ones that are labeled for main power, but I could not access the larger fuses and even if I could get to them, same as before, I do not have the meter tool to test them (they are located on the side of the fuse box, up against the plastic dash panel - I don't think Toyota wants them to be checked.
    I am out in the boonies, taking care of my brother's house (100 miles from my home), its late Saturday afternoon, so I have no one to call to help and am stuck for a couple of days trying to solve this issue. I hope my brother responds to my email so he can tell me where he has an electric multi-meter for me to use in solving this mystery. I have searched through this site hoping to find guidance to my issues, but am still lost. Do any of you have ideas what I can try; where I should focus?     What is your process to jumpstart the car? I would suggest that you first look for a problem with that process.

    For example, where exactly are you connecting the jumpstart cables?

    First, I attached my jump battery positive clamp to the start block located under the hood and the ground leed to the body, an unpainted bolt. When that did not work, I got the hatch open and clamped my battery over to the car's battery terminals (P+ to P+ and N- to N-). Next I removed the Prius' 12v battery and clamped onto the car's battery terminals, still nothing. Do you think I missed anything?

    Can you start the donor vehicle? Was the donor vehicle running when you tried the jumpstart?

    The process sounds OK. If you don't have a multimeter to work with, I don't think there is much else for you to try.

    If you had a multimeter available, I would suggest that you measure the voltage across the jump cables where they connect to the donor vehicle and also at the Prius to make sure there is no problem with the jump cables.

    Assuming you can measure 12V at the Prius, I would then suggest that you turn on the Prius headlights and see how bright they are.

    If you have 12V at the Prius battery but no lights or accessories can turn on, then you would need to use the multimeter to figure out where the problem is. Perhaps at the 120A MAIN fuse located at the Prius 12V battery positive terminal connector.
