It may start and everything be normal after you charge the battery. Just curious if you don't mind sharing, how much is a song in Indiana?

Well another unexplainable (good) thing has happened, after checking all the usual steps, I decided to jump in and test the traction battery voltage. Somehow the orange plug was not snapped, I have no idea how the car ran for 2 months and nearly 3K miles this way, but it did.

Once I removed and snapped it in good and then unhooked the 12v to reset the system everything seems to work fine.

Thanks for all the input and help.:)

No I had not checked it, because the rear area had not been touched since the battery replacement, and I never would of guessed it would run like it did or at all for that matter with the plug loose. Lol

Common mistake, not doing the last step on the Orange Service Plug. Seen plenty of posts here on PC where folks fiddled with the traction battery, pulled the service plug, then put it back in but forgot to slide it to complete the last step aka step "c" in the installation instructions below in the pdf file... Read the attached file for the detailed instructions on the "Orange Service Plug".

I still suspect the HV battery is a problem. The orange service plug was probably unplugged by the "PO" when the car wouldn't start. He fiddled with it before selling it to you. There's no other way the car would run for 2 months with that plug not locked in place.

I wouldn't be surprised if you get a hybrid warning light in the near future because of the battery having a weak module again. But of course this wouldn't cause you any problems because you already have the necessary replacement modules on hand.

OTOH you could also have a bad 12v battery, which you can replace easily if you have starting problems again.

I don't believe he unplugged it, the rear of the car was all together and he almost backed out of selling at the last minute, he didn't want to part with the car, he just didn't want to be stuck sinking a bunch of money in it. He actually thought the problem was abs brake related. I know he would not of sold the car if he thought it was the battery because it is still under warranty. The 12v battery was just bought from Toyota and is under warranty as well.

I have driven the car around some today and everything appears fine, and the battery seems stable.

It was probably just slightly dirty/bad connections on the auxiliary contacts, and it has only been making a marginal connection since the replacement. Plugging and re-plugging a connection will usually sort out a dirty contact.

    Can anyone help???
I bought the mini vci off ebay for about $50. Absolutely no kind of support. Can anyone tell me how to load everything I need to make this work? It's asking for a registration key when I hook up to the car.

What versions of the cable driver and TechStream did you get with the cable? What else did you get on the CD?

Have a look at these two posts from a thread I found helpful:

    Install Order
Driver Install Order and Area Selection

You might find other interesting or relevant info in the whole thread.

Ask any other questions you might have. Maybe an idea to ask any questions about M-VCI in the other thread.

    hope this helps
