    Prying Open the Prius

A look under the hood and inside the battery of the world's best-selling gas-electric hybrid car.

    By Daniel Turner

The Prius, now in its fifth year on the North American market and its third design, is the world's best-selling gas-electric hybrid car. Its success derives largely from the clever technologies described here.

Thanks, that was a fun way to get a light review of the Prius' systems. Should be recommended reading for all our newbies.

The way the describe the regenerative braking is inaccurate...

Correct me if i'm wrong.... but the back breaks don't regenerate....

In fact the front discs dont regenerate either....

Its the link between the front wheels and the generator that recaptures the energy.

    But very nice pictures :)

Very well-designed basic look at the workings of a Prius. Thanks

Also the Thermos is located at the front of the car.
